Cooler for 4850?

The last time I looked, for my 7900GT, it was an easy choice - Zalman VF900-Cu. Now, I'm not so sure what to get with the 4850 I'm going to buy. Another VF-900Cu? A VF-1000? T-Rad2 (although that would be very expensive as I'd have to buy fans for it)? Accelero twin turbo?

I suppose I could wait and see what the stock cooling is like on the Gainward 4850 512MB I'm intending to buy, but it's not going to be as good.

Does'nt the Gainward come with a custom cooler already fitted? How about one of the Powercolour PCS cards with the excellent Zerotherm coolers already fitted?

I can get the Gainward for £88. The Powercolour PCS is £123.

I don't know how good the cooler on the standard (i.e. not Golden Sample) Gainward 4850 is. I'd be surprised if it's as good as a 3rd party cooler.

Accelero S1 Rev. 2

cheap, capable, easy to fit, I had a 4850 o/c'd to 750/1150 passive and never went above 50 ( with a 120mm fitted it never went over 40 )

Did you have trouble getting the ramsinks on? I've read quite a few comments about them not all fitting and the included thermal tape being rubbish.

It looks rather large. I'm not convinced it will fit, but it looks a very good buy for £19. I have spare 120mm fans doing nothing, so I get the option of a fan at no extra cost.

Thanks for the pointer.

As long as you give the ram a quick wipe with Isopropyl alcohol I found the sink stuck fine, it will fit and as for size I had it installed on an matx board in a silverstone TJ08 matx case without any problems.

I've seen the AC S2 for around a half the price of the S1 at £19
