Who is going to use these NXE features?

Quite funny seeing avatars being praised by a few users that slagged off Home for it! lol. The NXE looks v.good imo, the interface looks so much better! If my god dam Elite ever turns up from my mobile package then ill be able to use the install feature a lot more! I cant see it being that handy for 20Gb owners considering Ive filled most of the harddrive on hardly anything really.

I've had my HDD since launch and have over 11gb free!

Home and Avatars/Mii's are two quite different things.

One is basically a 3D gamer identity the other a virtual home.

Exactly as I see it too.. and why I think it's valid for someone to not want/like home, but like 360 avatars without being labelled as hypocritical..

OT, the HDD install sounds ideal, it has no down sides providing you have a HDD with some space.

The Avatar sounds OK, They work OK on the Wii, and the 360 is only using them in the same sort of manner. I certainly don't hate them, and I can't see why any reasonable person would.

People hate change, and they get off on moaning about it.

It will take them 2 seconds to select a default avatar, and then they never have to worry about it again!!!

Ill be using the HDD feature , although not for noise. The only noise i ever hear from my 360 is the movement of the laser from different sections of the disc from time to time. I will be using it for the loading times though.

I also hate the whole mii/avatar thing so hope this can just be brushed off to one side.

I've seen the 120gb drives with migration cable for £59, but I've ordered the DIY version now for £35
you can also get a 60gb drive with headset and 3 months live for about 60.

Looking forward to it, especially if it really works at the speed as shown in the Vids.

Will use the HDD Copy, but probobly just on the main game im playing on, say COD5 when I get it.

Dont mind the Avatar things, they are a tool for better interaction for the services etc etc, not sure I can understand the hate towards them lol

Im only really interested in the copying games to HD. I just got a new 60Gb 360 and it is incredibly noisy. Much more so than my old 20Gb.

I like the install to HDD feature as recently I have found if a game is available on both consoles (and is identical or close enough that I don't care - Saints Row 2 for example) I will always get it on the PS3 simply because it is so much quieter than my 360.

The Avatar feature I probably won't use. (I hardly play online anymore).

I have just purchased an Xbox 360 Elite from Members Market to take advantage of the HDD loading when this update arrives.

I was just wondering, how will I go about using my current Live account on this new 360, will it let me download the COD 4 map pack again for instance?

Yes, although DLC is "attached" to your primary(old) Console's ID. So will only work whilst you are connected to Live. (Not a problem for online onlty map packs I guess).

If you have changed 360's for good (got rid of old one) you should transfer your licenses to your new Elite. (You can use your paid content offline on only 1 console, which you need to make your new one).

Better explanation and details here:

I used it recently and it is quick and painless.

any one no if the 360 will support more video codecs in the future ie mkv

Possibly - the Xbox team have said if there's demand for more codecs, they will try and implement them. Who you have to email these requests to, I haven't a clue! Perhaps send an Xbox message to AceyBongos or MrPointyHead.

Does Forza still mess up when you transfer?

A 120gb drive is tempting

Mine transferred fine, the only save that it couldn't transfer was my rainbow 6 vegas saves. It said they were corrupt.

Although expensive when you consider you can get £20 for your old 20 gig drive and £20 for the data cable you are upgrading for £35

I'm eager to try out the save to HDD feature, I'd love it if you could use your HD-DVD drive to read the game disc also, allowing to easily switch between two games.

I won't be regularly using the save to HDD but in the past I've found a couple of games that had a really annoying resonance maybe due to a slightly warped disc or the drive spinning at a set speed. If I get any games like that again I will probably shove them on the HDD. Having said that since laying my 360 flat and changing what it was on the noise it makes seems to have halved

Avatars sound like a bit of fun but I too won't be paying a penny for any custom stuff.

Fable 2 on mine sounds like a hovercraft lifting off.
