It's going to be terrible, that's not going to stop me watching it but I reckon I'll wait until it comes out on DVD.

I know that and I'm quite happy watching films that are nothing beyond brainless action but I'm simply acknowledging right now it will be a load of tosh. Very very few films improve with the sequels and having now had the chance to watch the first trailer doesn't change my opinion of what it will be like one iota.

i love films that are action-based, but these are just cringe worthy pieces of junk
The original was great, the sequel was too OTT on the unbelievable stunts, and no action film ever benefits from having a kid in it. The third looks like it falls somewhere between the two and I'll definitely be seeing it.

Its weird films like this. I totally agree with you that this type of film is not made to be a blockbuster. However, if i where making a film i would make it within the best of my ability and make the Oscars my goal. This logic should result in more quality films imo!

I'm loving the complete mix of opinions here. I really enjoyed both of them so I can't wait for this.
I've always been a fan of total mindless action. I don't look at these films as if they're supposed to be believable, I like to imagine how much fun the film crew had while capturing and pulling off the stunts.
I think if action films were more believable, they'd be even more cringe-worthy and boring.
Having the main character racing around at 55mph in a hatchback, instead of 210mph in a ferrari, just to make sure he doesn't attract attention or burst a tire on a curb, then ending up getting arrested anyway for going too fast through a 40mph zone - would probably make for pretty dull viewing

I thought 1 and 2 were great fun.

Only bit that I didn't like about 2 was the barrell roll in mid-air and taking the bomb off with the crane thingy.
