If you are looking at who has voted what, why not make the poll a public one and not a pretend-private poll?
Because a lot of people who voted would prefer to keep their wealth private and it will remain so. Nobody's choice has been disclosed.

Except your choice to read peoples private votes.

i see...
I dont see why this is such a big problem - Spie the db owner so would have all the rights to see the data - youve said so as part of applying for an user account.

If you have problems with that then read the ToCs and just abstain from posting what you would consider are details you dont want to disclose in public. The same advice people have been pumping out since social networking went big :p

Not really aimed at you Hedge - just seems a bit silly when the persons volunteered the information - Spies not forced anyone to participate...

EDIT: Ive abstained from voting, but then I know what I would do with the info ;):p

ps3ud0

Any Administrator on any vBulletin forum can see who votes in any poll. If you've got a problem with that I suggest you find other forums to frequent that don't use vBulletin.

Once i have sold my car i will have a decent amount, also have a bit in an ISA, looking at buying a house next year so will be trying hard to save as much as possible.

People are posting into his database, if it was that damn private they shouldn't have voted, it is obvious that the owner of the DB will have access to the results.

I dont mind about privacy of it. I voted under 1k because i have no savings whatsoever.

Dont need to get all defensive. I said what I said because on one hand you said a lot of people would like their votes kept private.

Then on the other hand you are reading what people voted anyway.

Surely it requires a few clicks and options in order to read what people have voted. I doubt it just pops up a name of who voted what as soon as they do so.

Yep, and i would rather it that way than if the DB was handled externally by possible dodgy fellows.

If people had been told about this then they would probably not have voted.

I know the ability is there, but it is a question of whether or not the administrators would.

you think everyone was honest?

Absolutely, why would OcUK not have 31 millionaires amongst its ranks? Actually I do have my serious doubts but it is at least possible if you include houses and other assets that there will be a few millionaires here.

I solved the problem of people knowing or not knowing how much I have simply, I didn't say beyond generalities and I didn't vote. If you're going to put information out on the internet, and more specifically a public forum, then I think the possibility that it might not be entirely secure has to be considered. If you're unhappy about that possibility then don't put it out there, while it may be a bit late for some people just now it may be a useful lesson for the future and one that is unlikely to be too damaging as I'm sure Spie and the other moderators will respect the privacy of those who have voted and not reveal any further information.

How come you're not paying it off if you have money to pay it off with?

Its on the old system so I think you have to be on 25k to even have to start pay it off plus they seem to be a lot more negotiable if you dont want to pay it off. I lot of my pay is in bounses so I always declare my basic.

Why dont I want to pay it off? I enjoy the finer things in life and prefer spend the money on them, I will pay it off at some point but I perfer to pay it off in lump sums. Theirs quite a few people I know thats not started paying theirs and they seem to have a lot more disposable income than me. But like someone else said on this post at the moment I see it like another tax on my working life; one that I op-ing not to pay yet.

maybe we should do a poll that doesn't include houses as a comparison.
most people with houses over inflate its value, they are hardly a liquid asset, and if you have a mortgage the bank owns it anyway.
