Well I was thinking of going for it and putting in the order but now I am not so sure.

Might just go with a Skulltrail setup afterall and save some money.

probably some mistake

You think!

I guess because I had it in the cart when there was a price and now the price has changed to TBC.

I hope the price goes down or I will kick myself for not ordering a few days ago.

Don't you just feel kind of silly when ordering a kit that expensive? I don't wanna bash you and I would even be kind of jealous but seriously for 1/3 of that price you can get a very good C2D setup and have some money left. Or just waiting a bit when a new revision comes out wouldn't that be much wiser and a lot cheaper? :) Nevertheless that setup would be awesome :)

Dude, I'm not spending 145k!

And anyway, its for work. I was going to spend 2.4k on a Skulltrail but I figure 8 thread i7 seutp will be nearly as good and less cash , like 1.4 ish so no problem ! Big savings! May be ill get a 3rd GTX 280 for games!

Isnt it a bit retarded putting something up for pre-order when the price is TBC?

I'm probably not wrong when I say people like to know the price of things BEFORE they buy.

I know you're not spending 145k rofl :D hahah but I meant in general the system is still pretty expensive right...
Well if the money really doesn't matter then I guess I would get something like that system as well but you know the components are really expensive at this point and getting a C2D/C2Q setup without a skulltrail would be a lot less money. And 3 280GTX's, I mean come on what are you gonna play :D

I have a 30" Dell so 2560x1600 kind of justfiys 3 cards.

As for C2Q setup I currently have [email protected] (used to run 3.6 but its starting to die) from September 2006 on a Badaxe2 board and it is time to upgrade.

Running only 1 280 in this PC but have a 2nd card on another PC so could run Tri-SLI on a new system if I get another card.

I want more cores for rendering, cad and editing work so thats why I was going to get Skulltrail. I think the i7 will be a good compromise though.

Would be nice to see a top Skulltrail vs Core i7 review though.

Well then I guess go for it, the system will be awesome :D Hope you won't regret spending so much on a system though ;)

Have fun mate

I'm actually getting a lot more positive about Nehalem for each time i read about it, overclocking seems easy and it'll get as high as the usual ones, memory performance is absolutely fantastic - i know it will not help, sometimes even worsen my gaming experience compared to a Penryn Quad, but it will still be a huge upgrade over what i have now.

What has got me to think about buying one is the price really, DDR3 prices are falling all over the board and by the time i upgrade in March i can get the parts from the states, 250$ for the cheapest chip is very reasonable - so is DDR3 prices and mobo prices over there.
