While this is very true, if you're grouping with a load of potential nabs, some specs make success more likely
Before TBC we only really saw prot warriors in 20man raids and above. Occasionally we saw someone say Prot War LFG but it was quite rare, even on UBRS runs before AQ40.
It has suprised me in recent years how people tend to only take Protection warriors, unless it is a guild run. When I got my warrior to 70 I would tank or DPS instances as Arms, I was able to keep aggro on 3 mobs in Shattered Halls when a lot of people thought that place was tricky on release. (well on my old server).

SH WAS tricky on release. The trouble is, that you need to keep aggro on 4-6 mobs for some of the pulls, unless you happened to be running with two Mages.
I healed 60-70 as a Shadow Spec, and ran many of the level 70 instances like this before I went Holy. Yes we could do them (with a Fury tank), but you can be damn sure I was totally oom at the end of big pulls, with the Shadow Fiend used and an occasional pot used.
It's easy to look back now and laugh at that, when you can complete the biggest 5 man pulls on heroic mode and still end up with 75% mana, but the fact is that when you're undergeared, spec makes a big difference.
There is an argument to be made that it's more exciting to beat content with non-ideal specs though

I tanked from 60-70 as arms with just my full GM gear with the shield and 1h one,just switched to the 2h when i was lvling. Now with the prot buff i will probably lvl as prot!
I got into TBC late after being a 60 twink so havent progressed too well. I've done kara and gruul,most of the common heroics(no CoT ones) and was in MH the other night were we got to archi but had to call it as it was a bad pull and people had to go.
Shattered halls was a bit of a prot warrior hell pre patch though!

Any normal instance can be tanked as arms post patch,i think even blizzard said so?
Anything higher than kara and decent heroics you would easily feel it. On the azgalor fight i really noticed the fact i wasn't hit capped! The guild are in BT though so they were basically carrying us through,i was really just picking up loose adds and spamming my AOE threat stuff and keeping buffs/debuffs up!
1 CC, we knew what we were doing, this wasn't a PuG. My point was in my earlier post was that a few years ago people wouldn't demand Prot Warriors as much as they do now. There is no need if you know how to hold aggro
Yeah, I play Horde on Frostmane... great server.. hope you're not a migrator or new to the server though, we instantly hate those

How did this happen?! I was in Seth Halls last night, and according to my damage meter, the mage (Level 68) did about 200k more damage than me (Hunter - Leve 67)!!
That wasn't the most unusual thing I noticed since installing my damage meter - Mages are often top of the meter, and I am right underneath them! It's as if Blizzard are now boosting the underdogs! Whereas Palys and Warriors do good damage, they still can't live up to the almighty damage of the Mage, Hunter or even rogues
What has the world of Azeroth come too

Well before the patch I could easily beat a mage in damage (But I rule...Why are you surprised a Mage does good damage ? that's their job with a bit of cc on the side
).I'm not too bothered though, I'm just happy how much better Volley is now
(My new Win button... well second to Feign Death tbh )

If I got hold of the WOTLK a day before released (I found a shop that sold it, I purchased it from online and they sent it early - whatever) could I go to northrend / do WOTLK stuff or does the server still need to have stuff turned on?
I ask because Northrend was added (can obviously see it on the map) and trainers have the stuff (not high enough levels) so will it be a case of once you have WOTLK you are good to go, or too bad its not time to play yet?

I asked this question also to my guild and they said you can install it (if you get it early), however you must then wait until 00:01 Thursday 13th, and then you can play again (With Wrath activated).
So basically, if you get it a day early (which I'm hoping for) you can play till 8, then install and then play at 00:01

I guessed that would be the case - so no point in ordering from the "normal" places that send it early hoping Me alsoI want it early so I can start at 12am.
Plus there are midnight copies at the Tesco near me Tempting... However, think I may just order online and hope
