Vehicles over 1525kg prohibited

When parking to go to the bank today I saw the above sign, and was slightly puzzled because it states that vehicles over 1525kg are prohibited... but my 530i is apparently 1605kg, so does that mean I can't park in there?! Along with any other big cars?

I doubt they would weigh your car...

I'm guessing it's because whatever they have to remove vehicles isn't certified above that weight.

There is a similar limit on all the carparks in henley-on-thames, i cant imagine that there is a single car in henley which meets it

as above, it will be the most their low loader will be capable of.

no idea how they enforce it if they cant remove your car though !

As above, it's probably something to do with their tow truck.

No, but they do have your registration number and the DVLA have a record of the quoted kerb weight of your car. It's on your V5 so is a cinch to check.

I actually weighed my car a year or so ago on a weighbridge and it came out at 1540kg, so I reckon if I parked it with an empty fuel tank and no people in it I could argue it in court

Says 1605kg on my V5. I beleive it's the weight the manufacturer quotes to the DVLA when the car is type approved and includes a tank of fuel and two people.

Barges are great. I drove to Southampton and back today, 332 miles, and feel just the same as I did before I set off. Effortless.

Agreed. I drove to Dorchester and back last week, 230 miles, and felt TWICE AS GOOD as I did before I set off. Beat that.
