steam games update question

hi all im new to steam so im not familiar with the way it works , i have bought fallout 3 via steam and i have just noticed a patch has been released do i need to wait till steam updates fallout or can i do it manually as i tried and it wouldnt find the correct files to update

If you purchased it through steam, then it is automatically updated. You dont even have to worry.

yes tryed that didnt work i dont think steam have the patch on there network yet

Edit:ah when i clicked on fallout 3 to play the game updates

Yeah it depends on the game, some will update when you log into steam automatically. Others do it when you run them
