Anyone got their SE xperia!!! what do you think?

I'd be surprised if anyone is buying this phone as a camera/MP3 etc device foremost.

I wanted it specifically for multimedia purposes.

Widescreen, high res, great for watching shows. 3.5mm jack for my headphones, and all the other WM functionality that I have grown accustomed to.

if you want it for multimedia then I'd say go for the Touch HD as its got the bigger screen. I'm starting to sway towards the Touch HD myself, was also looking at this as well.

Touch HD is too big, after moving from the PDA size phones (Xda Mini S and MDA Compact) to my SPV E650, I got used to having a phone sized WM device with a qwerty.

HD is bigger than I'd like and no qwerty (I am a heavy texter).

krooton,

I'm due for an upgrade and as you've had a play with the phone now, is it worth to splash out £99 and £35pm on o2. Or wait until Jan as it will be 3months then and apparantly will be "cheaper."

Well, I've only had it a day so far, so it's still early days.

Plus over the coming months I expect more tweaks, better ROMs, etc.

What have you currently got?

Sony w800i - i sold my iphone with the intention to get the iphone v2 but i could not be bothered!

Fair enough, the other thing which I will use the phone for is GPS, I'm not sure what one to use, I had TomTom but it's a bit basic, there's others like Destinator etc..

Well, it is totally your decision.

The interface is quite different to the fluidity of iPhones, and it is very likely that I am desensitised to the flaws of the handset as I have been a WM user for 4 years, so all I can say is that that I am very happy with it so far, but that doesn't mean that you'd necessarily like it too, hehe.

It appears now O2 have this phone generally available in stores now.

Can anyone confirm whether they branded it up cripple style a la Vodafone with regards to WIFI access forcing you to use GSM rather than wifi for certain connections?

I beleive they have put a customised panel in at least, does anyone know if it's possible to replace/fix this.

And have they fixed the bluetooth issue whereby bluetooth connection drops/turns off for seemingly no reason, after an un certain amount of time?

Was really looking forward to thi phone, and had it been out a month a go I would have bought it then and there. However now I'm not so sure. I may wait for either the 5800 depending on price, or the touchscreen communicator (e90) in the meantime I've got a psion 5mx and I'll keep my 6210 for calls. Touch HD looks interesting, but need to wait and see on that one.

Nothing is crippled to me, everything works perfectly, it works great out of the box, opera is amazing on the screen, no O2 crippling like the XDA.

Bluetooth works great, had no problems

RE: Earlier query about battery, phone has had a lot of push activity today, random Opera browsing here and there, a lot of phone calls and the battery is still around 60-70%. Stellar at this time would be sitting at 30% if I am lucky.

Love this phone, really do.

got mine 2days ago, came along with a 4gb card which i knew nothing about till i took off the battery, on o2, dont think its branded, just with an o2 theme and o2 panel on the phone it self. Using it is quite good, bit fiddly but being a PDA/smartphone it would be, battery life is as should be but could help if it was abit more better, got some apps for it, wayfinder and few more stuff from www.spbsoftwarehouse.com, other then that its a good phone, my friends love the **** it out of it but cant help if the blackberry bold would be better hmmm still pondering to return it or not..

also if interested, haggled with o2, phone £50, £40a month, 1200mins, unlimited texts-data bundle.

Should have haggled more, got the same for £27.50 ;) I wouldn't go for RIM, prefer WM, loads of guys here are moving from RIM to WM or iPhone.

This is the best WM phone I have used and I am loving it.

specifically can you use WIFI to connect to use email and messenger? The voda ones I beleive force you to use GSM to connect, although wifi browsing the net works.

bleh..

look through the xda developer X1 forums : http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=436&order=desc&page=

There's a whole bunch of new posts there as the phone just came out in the states... but keep going back in time to just after the voda launch... read any thread with vodafone mentioned. There's a good number of people with this issue. (and other assorted issues) Sorry can't find any direct links. no browser history. :)

There's also reports that video recording (30fps @ VGA) sucks the ass big style. Can anyone confirm, or not? (the 24fps qvga video seems OK, but that's pretty crap to start with)

<edit> actually it's not out in the states, just a bunch of people moaning that's although it's supposed to be out, it's not. apparently now it's the 31/11/08. Man that is taking the mick.
