***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

Anyone having trouble with crashes, try setting the process affinity to one core. It's worked a treat for me :)
 
I caved, its good fun i must say, going to play it some more tomorrow.
Tried playing as the zombies, not that good unless your playing as the tank:
 
I must admit, it's quickly getting annoying that the lobby system never finds any dedicated servers. The only reason I can see for it is that all the servers are getting dumped under the custom tab in the regular server browser, and the lobby system is only looking at the internet tab.

Also, another bizarre bug regarding it: when it fails to find any servers, click cancel when it asks if you want to host. Get the lobby to scan again, it will find a server! ...And then it says that the server you're trying to connect to is only for lobby users, promptly disconnecting you. :mad:

Hi all,

I've played the Demo for an hour , and just got to sit down and play today! .. just doing another update, has the co-op been fixed ? so ocuk players can now play together ?
 
Im loving this game, on expert the AI director really does shine, altho sometimes i think its a bit sadistic.

4 of us started on the apartments and heard a witch crying from the offset, so we all turn our flashlights off as we should and of course one of the players thinks it will be hilarious to shoot the witch, then all hell breaks lose he and 2 other guys gets killed and then what does he say. WAIT till i respawn!

This game is so great when you have a team who know what they are doing because it seems the better your doing the more the AI director ramps up the difficulty.

When you have a gimp in the team who shoots off on his own only to get wiped out then sits and spams the chat to rescue him it begins to grate.

Also seen a few TK griefers who will just shoot through you at any opportunity.

To be fair tho generally games have been great, loads of connection issues with the lobby connecting to the first crappy host available on his 56k but once its easier to get into decent servers this game will rock.

BTW i have never once been able to connect to the same game as any OCUKers buy using shift+tab to bring up the steam page and then right clicking ona name to join game.
 
They really better get a proper server browser in the game - fast. There's no incentive to put up dedicated servers that the Valve shooters are renowned for otherwise. L4D will just be a laggy mess like the console matchmaking games are. Why pay to host a dedicated server when no-one can choose to go on it after all? It's not like the custom games browser is going to be known by everyone except the minority of players who took it up to look for a way around the shoddy matchmaking system. It doesn't even place players in custom dedicated servers. I'm seriously contemplating not buying the game now.
 
Well hopefully if enough people make their opinions known to Valve about the 'matchmaking' and lack of proper dedicated server options then that'll get patched into the full game asap !
 
I've managed a fair few games (on Friday at least) with OcUKers through the steam friends system without problems, and inviting others to friends-only games. Apart from Thursday night, i've no complaints about the system and lobbying :)

Yet.
 
the game just gets better and better, and if you have a group who know what they are doing the experience is superb..
only problems ive had are people who purposely set off the alarms to bring hordes of zombies when playing on expert !!!

so whats everyones fave weapon ? has to be the shotgun for me, specially when you get to pick up the auto-shotty later on!!

i know OcUK have a steam group but maybe one purely for Left4Dead might be a good idea ? [OcUK]Left4Dead ?

Don't think there would be any point to make an OcUK L4D group we can just use the chat room to get games going.
