Postman

Tip your postman? Are you mad, they do a job and get paid for it! Anyway, we seem to have a different person each day so it's a moot point here!

thats a nice gesture dude.

Im not saying this because Im currently doing the job, (i dont wanna do it forever thats for sure).

But i certainly appreciate the amount of crap that postmen have to deliver that does nothing but have a negative effect on the service. Hundreds upon hundreds of junky leaflets, lightbulbs, council spam letters. does my nut in! :)

Some postmen have done the same walk for countless years. They see children grow up from being kids in the street to teenagers/adults answering the door for parcels etc.

In your case having different ones, its different. But a lot of posties have done their walk for a long long time.

Nothing wrong with tipping them. You would probably tip a barmaid just cos she smiled when she gave you a pint. But getting your letters daily is something i think people take for granted.

hahhahaha look at me sticking up for posties now that im working as one

I wouldn't tip my post man he comes no sooner than 13:30 every day

Yeah thats because the system changed. So infact you are getting post that you wouldnt have otherwise recieved until the following day.

So you arent really losing out. Regardless of what people might think :)

That's because you live 5 and a half hours from where his shift starts.

And yeah. Considering Im not allowed to leave the office until around 9.45am...

Its around 10am by the time the first letter is posted, then the walks are made in such a way that they take around 3.5hrs to complete. 1.30 is around the time that im posting the final part of my round.

People keep yapping on about post that used to come at 7am. I know, ours used to come early too, but that was when posties started at like 4am. now they start at 6. And they have more to do

heres me thinking my postman had a bad habbit of leaving the gate open, but seriously stashing goods in the bin, thats just plain ridiculous.

nowadays the parcles are signed for electronically the barcodes are still left on the parcel when he hands them to me.

Send yourself a parcel, wait in bin, scare the **** out of your postaman, tell him to stop putting stuff in your bin, post video, ???, Profit.

Thats pretty rank to be honest, i didnt know any postman would leave a parcel anywhere but inside the property where it belongs, ie if I left a note saying leave parcel by the inside of the doorway I'd expect them to ignore it and go by their own protocol.

I'm getting some 'signed for' items in the bin with the tags still attached, which clearly haven't been signed for.

Order some expensive items, when they are left in the bin unsigned, claim they have not been received..

Repeat as required.

My postman has developed the rather annoying habit of putting packages I receive in my wheelie bin.

Not too much of an issue perhaps. But often people walking past my house dump their unwrapped food waste in there.

Also, I'm getting some 'signed for' items in the bin with the tags still attached, which clearly haven't been signed for.

Today, he didn't even bother to ring the bell. Just put a note through the door saying parcel in bin. I watched him do it!

I'm reluctant to complain as he does seem a reasonable bloke the few times I've spoken to him. Just a lazy ****.

Anyone else have these or similar problems? Maybe it's 'cos I don't tip him at Xmas? :o

/rant over :)

Am I missing something or have you actually talked to him directly about it yet?

ERRRRR Quick off to the internet.....

Nuke the postman from orbit..... just to be sure be got the message

put your tin foil hats on.

OMG the country/ world is being run by evil lizard over lords that want to control your packages via your wheelie bin.

Anyway off to bed. :D

Was just reading down here and about to ask the same thing.

Seriously, just speak to him calmly and give him a better place to put them, or tell him to leave the 'whilst you were out' card.

Doesnt even need a calm word! Simply saying "Hey mate, people chuck rubbish in the bin so could you not leave the post in there, cheers!" would do the trick! If its one person that delivers the mail all the time thats all that it could take. People these days are just too afraid to talk to each other for some odd reason :(

We used to have an awesome postman who won the lottery, always deliverd the parcels ever since i was a kid, stopped a few years ago and its all went to pot now.

only decent guy left is citylink as I fix his laptop nearly every month :D
