IRC #ocuk-pc - OcUK PC Gamers

Well, the console boys have their own channel and to be honest, I am surprised there is not one for us PC gamers.

Essentially, somewhere for us PC gamers to go and chat and get a few games going.

Want to race someone from OcUK at GRID, go on the channel and ask :)

Hop on the channel, see if anyone wants to play at whatever game you like. The forums seem to be difficult to arrange OcUK game sessions through so the IRC channel should resolve that as you are online at the same time as others and are chatting in real time.

Inoshishi as posted an AMAZING guide to IRC in the console forum:
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11889004&postcount=1

I would quote the post but thought best to ask him first.

Obviously, replace #ocuk-consoles and #ocuk-ps3 with #ocuk-pc

I am not an expert with IRC but know my way aound, any questions, please ask.

Remember, if nobody is there immediately when you login, dont just log off, wait around as others will join.

http://www.xchat.org/ is easy to use if your unsure of which IRC client to use.

Wow, another completely un-neccesary IRC channel. Why not just talk about PC games in the official OcUK channel? It's not as if anything gets talked about in there at the moment so you'd not be interupting anything.

The idea is mainly for game matchups which is very difficult to organise on these forums.

As suggested by Ots3go, if it is within the realms of my ability, I think it would be good to implement a tracking system on the channel so you can tell the channel what game you are playing and log this information on a simple website so others can see what is played at what times of day, most played server etc.

Im sure there is other things which could be implemented but I think it could grow assuming we get enough people on there :)

why dont we use teamspeak its much better

http://www.goteamspeak.com/

Teamspeak may be better for communication ingame, but outside of games, IRC can be much better. With IRC you can simply join the chan of the game you want to play and easily find people to play with/agaisnt, also its used by so many people that the popular games have many users in the chans and so you can find a wealth of information just by asking.
