How the **** would I know? I sell business insurance. :p

Ok, seriously, I don't know - but that guy who mapped my 330 was showing me strings of code & settings type stuff when mapping the car and saying we "don't tend to mess around with these bits as BMW have it all spot on".

I asked WTF and he explained it's age compensation code.

might explaine pmkeates "250bhp" 330i being so poor at the RR

On the subject of on board computers and extra functions; does anyone know how you disable the seat belt *BONG BONG BONG* warning on a Mk5 Golf?

I know it's already been said to put the seatbelt on, but yes, put it on! Why wouldn't you wear one anyway?

and . . .

...the BMW On-Board Computer (OBC) holds more functions than is documented, including a very nice instrument panel test. I managed to get a lot of this information from the web, but it was far from complete. Subsequently I asked my dealer for the missing info, but they could not provide the complete list either. Following is a list for the items I could find, they work in my car (E46 323i). I gather most of them also work in the E36 models. Who can tell what the missing entries represent (especially functions 9.1, 9.2 and 9.3 which are very mysterious)?

Instructions to access the hidden OBC functions:

1. Hold Trip Reset while turning ignition key to on position
2. OBC should show "Test"
3. Use Trip Reset to select function 19.0 that unlocks all the features
4. Wait for display to show "Off"
5. Depress Trip Reset for 1/4 second and release it
6. With no delay press Trip Reset several times to select one of the following function s

Well since many here have an e46 (or e36) thought they may have found the real time info interesting as you don't need to buy a device to do that...

MRK,

get onto e46zone very good site.

Loads of tips and such like posted on there,

A couple of meets coming up soon as well.

I know it's already been said to put the seatbelt on, but yes, put it on! Why wouldn't you wear one anyway?

I do wear a seatbelt at all times but it starts bonging as soon as your turn the key before you've started the engine and with it being diesel I leave it for a few moments to give whatever it is that warms up chance to warm up and use that time to put my seatbelt on whilst it's bonging at me and it's really annoying.
