Game Endings to become DLC?

This is a joke!!! SO if I buy a game 2nd hand for £15, I then have to pay MORE money to complete it just because it is 2nd hand?

I would boycott any game that incorporated this.

Buying it used isn't piracy though is it. I buy very few games at full price as I simply can't afford to-used games are very important to me, and if a company started doing this then I simply would either not play the game at all, or not play the final boss. They wouldn't make any more money out of me!
They don't make any money out of you anyway, so, for them, what's to lose?

Why don't they make it so you just purchase an unlock code? That way there's nothing to download.

I don't agree with this, and one of the problems with businesses these days, they are just hell bent on increasing profits at the expense of the consumer, why can they never be happy just making a healthy profit, and going for customer satisfaction!

It's all moot though, because they always overlook the customer when coming up with these ludicrous ways of making sure they hit their year on year profit increase targets, but the reality is, we vote with our feet, and I think that stops a lot of this happening..

The legit gamers with no net will have no use for online weapons then will they :p or even an adidas live league code or multiplayer maps.

The title of the post was "Game Endings to become DLC" :p So people with no net have no need to see how the game ends

They problem with that, as it is with PC's, keygens appear, and people just generate their own offline codes.. unless they are server 'authenticated', they are almost useless..

Compare this with the car industry.

If Ford said "we will sell you a car but you can only use the back seats if you pay us extra", do you think that would work?
The second hand and car rental industries have been going for years and car companies have just put up with the lost sales.

If the games companies want to make money out of second hand games, maybe they should get a stake in eBay, or set up their own rental company.

I don't get why they don't use CD keys like PC games and only one person with each key is allowed to play online at the same time.

You're never going to stop offline piracy anyway.

No you don't understand, I don't mean an actual code, I mean similar to the way purchase of arcade games works. Only problem by doing that is you alienate people that don't have Xbox Live.

Not everybody has their consoles connected to the net.

Also if they did that and the same disc image was around the net thousands of people could all have the same copy trying to play at once.

Its such a retarded idea there is no way it would ever take off.

  • Rental market would instantly die, they must buy quite a few games!
  • Second hand market would instantly die.
  • People just aint gonna pay for something twice.
  • The people who this is aimed at would find a way around it very quickly, they always do.

Rather than come up with these stupid ideas to cut their games getting out early, I dont know why they just dont check their employees pockets before they leave the office, problem solved.

Nice

Think you hit the nail on the head. It would hurt them more in the long run

Why do they care about second hand and rental market though? They don't make any money from them.

As for paying for something twice, if the price was less to start with it wouldn't be so bad.

I don't think some people understand...you still get the whole game, its just that it comes with a CD key to download the end, - if you dont have a key, you would have to pay.

There is a bit of confusion, I agree, but how can it possibly be the whole game if you have to pay extra/download the end?

And if it's on the disk already, and you just need a key to access it, so that it caters for 'offline' people with no t'internet or renters, or secondhand purchasers, then what stops keygens appearing ?, as it's impossible to enforce 'key codes' without authenticating with a server (as proven with PC games).

I don't see any solution that doesn't affect part of your market, which defeats the object of trying to increase the market!

why criminalize a legit user who buys the game retail? (sorry i mean buys a license to play parts of the game) So a legit user with no internet cant see the ending wtf lol...

what an absurd idea, but have noticed a trend recently on how the game companys/ stores are offering extra free ingame content and early access to demo's if pre-ordering said game thats advertised.
