***Official Wrath of the Lich King Thread***(Contains spoilers)***

Due to the way WAR is at the moment I was planning on at least trying WotLK. However, after hearing you can only have one death knight per realm you have a 55 char on, I won't bother. DKs were going to be my saving grace since they've insisted on completely twisting around the classes again and ruining the two I enjoyed playing, but this rule on DK creation just takes the mick.

Who on Earth came up with such a retarded limitation when they state in the sentence following it that it will change at some point in future?!
 
Does anyone know of any high street shops selling this now (i.e. before the official release)? A long shot I know, but I'd like to pick it up during my lunch hour today. Not that I'll be playing it until tomorrow night, just today is more convenient to buy it.
 
Should get my copies today. Gotta install it on laptop (for other half) and my PC. Then we can geek the eff out tonight.

Sadly, she's only 67 at the mo and I;ve just hit 70. Been doing battlegrounds for the first time so I can get some decent gear. Taking ages :(
 
If I get back into WoW, I'm going to buy an American copy of the game and the expansions, and start an account with the US Server so that I can play with my friend from America.

Stopped playing WoW when my old computer stopped allowing me access to the internet with it after a patch, lol.
 
Yay! My two copies just arrived. Im sat at work and very tempted to install it here just to see the install screen....already got BC etc installed....nono, get back to work... must... work... :(
 
anyone who got a shipped order email from the big river place on monday got their copy today? did they use royal mail or courier?

Assume the link has already been posted. My local Tesco's didn't seem to know anything about it even though they are on the list so I advice you to call ahead if you plan to go to a Tesco's. Luckily for me a highstreet games shop that is also on the list is close to me and he has a ton of copies in stock. The shop assistant told me he had also called Tesco to see if they had any out of interest and was told they had 3 copies to sell...

I have a question that I can't find the answer to.

If I have the game installed and patched already to the latest version (3.0.3), do I actually have to run the install from the WotLK disks?

As surely that would just downgrade my install to 3.0.1? Or does the WotLK CD contain data that requires installation?

Yes. The patches only contained the new mechanics/talents/other bits of things. The DVD install contains all the maps/models/sounds and such.

I can understand it with a lot of games but with this one there is no way we can actually start playing the new content until they let us, so would be better if they just allowed it to arrive a couple of days early. I remember with tbc getting it the day before, installing it and then joining everyone else stood waiting at the portal.

I was chatting to a manager at the purple known store, had a good chat about WoW and he told me they have been asked to send the game a day later than normally. We also brought up the TBC release/pre-order thing. tbh I'm not one to go on things like this but it was more of a casual chat than anything else, he had some valid points.

There not the only ones who have been asked not to send games so early. But like I said not ALL stores are doing this, and some may even get it early from this store.. its chance.

Also to some people

STOP PANICKING ABOUT PATCHES.

We know WotlK will go back a version so we will need to repatch BUT as long as you haven't gone into your wow dir and actually manually deleted the patch it will just reinstal itself. No need to download again.

IF YOU GET THE GAME EARLY.

Feel free to instal/patch up to date, it will be fine. BUT the zepplins and other modes of transport wont be enabled until midnight so you won't get any sort of headstart.
 
Thanks, just doing a reinstall now and I won't bother re-downloading the big 2.4.2 - 3.0.whatever patch then. :)
 
i assume places are (legally) able to sell it today given that it cannot actually be used until midnight tonight ?

i may pop into the place i've pre-ordered it and see if I can get my CE copy as i've a free evening to at least install/patch it etc.
 
****, postie has just been and no CE in sight. Booo, will miss out on the opening night server lag and all the ganking.

I'm now torn, as I have to go out, but don't want to in case it comes via delivery van. Argh, why are royal mail so useless?
