$1 a day for charity...

It's flawed, but it's still a good idea, much better than doing a sponsored skydive or anything daft like that. Good luck sir.

Thanks so much to maccy for his kind and generous donation.

And thanks very much to everyone else who has defended my little project, it is greatly appreciated.

Can I ask how are you going about doing thing's? I generally am interested....Are you living in your house still presumably, are you turning the heating off etc, eating normally or only getting food with the $1 a day?

Hi Delvis,

There is some background on the blog.

Essentially, I'm living as normal in the house. I live with four other people. As such, despite my idea I should live without hot water its not really practical as you can't exactly selectively turn it off.

So $1 is exclusively on food, but obviously no other expenditue, like entertainment, etc for two weeks. £9.38(which is what it works out to be) is all that is leaving my bank account for the period! :)

I think the hijacking/flaming of this thread is completely unnecessary and just damn right rude. Someone has gone out of their way to do something that they believe is good, I actually agree, and then having people here just dropping negative comments is completely uncalled for.

Why can't people just think before they post, and not have to be so negative...

Are you allowed to save the money up? As in use the 66p to the next day?

As where are you going to get rice and lentils for 66p?

Also have you taken all your current food that is in the fridge and cupboards. As I would class that as cheating.

well you could just use the cold tap/don;t turn on the shower heater if its electric

Of course it does not include all my food in the fridge.
I will post the diet once it is organised. But it is going to be oats for breakfast, rice for lunch and lentils for dinner.

I really wish people would let other countries get on with their own stuff. Sure it's bad that they are in trouble. But i don't see why others that aren't from the country feel they should help.

If it was for a better cause I would but giving money to a war torn country that has been fighting for nearly 20 years, throwing money at the problem obviously does not help.

Great for you doing it and good luck but I will be donation to children in need tonight.

Got to repeat the above - charity starts at home as they say.

There are plenty of kids in homes in the UK, there are kids being abused, there are homeless here (the real homeless people, not the benefit scroungers). We may not be having a war here, but there are still people in need.

I donate money to any charities that can show the money goes to UK based causes.

But good luck in your aims!
