HTC Touch HD... 800x400, 5MP, GPS, 3G, 3.5mm jack...

I got one of these two days ago, on release date...... its now broke! its not recognising the simcard after i swapped it temporarily into my old phone.
 
I thought I had.... ive just done it again and you know what..... its working! b***ger me. Ive already phoned to call orange earlier

Ive just switched it off and on again for it to lose the sim. it must be a bit dodgy. Orange is bringing a new one tomorrow anyway.

Cool, glad it is working again.

How are you finding the phone?
Size wise does it feel chunky in your hand/pocket?

Is the touch screen responsive? Do you feel in control?

Any major niggles so far?
 
jamief I was in town today, the guy in CPW told me that the contract is with O2(while the guy in the O2 store said that its with CPW), but the unlimited text can't be changed if its a new contract(can be changed if its upgrade). tho the guy I spoke to a few weeks back said you can change it after the 1st bill(tho I was asking regarding the Xperia X1 at the time(tho it should hold true for the Touch HD as well),so still not anywhere near getting a definet answer(have read on the xperiax1.net forums of people getting the unlim text changed to unlim web, tho some cases they had to threaten to end the contract under the 14day cooling off period).

had a play with it in the Orange store for a few mins, didn't really get a feel for it(had to use the stylus in most of the menues). would need the 7days cooling off period to play with it a bit more before deciding if its for me or not.
 
to be honest, i havent really had chance to pay with it. It doesnt feel much bigger than my last phone but im used to PDA phones. I wasnt sure if i was gonna keep it or not because of the size, but i really like it. no issues with it for me

Thanks fowler. Aiming to go into town tomorrow and try out the Touch HD, Xperia and G1. Might well end up getting the Touch if I like it and trying it out for a week (and of course I'd only keep it if they let me switch to unlimted data). Will post back here if I get a chance tomorrow to try out the phones!

Is the touch hd heavy btw?
 
O2 didn't have the Xperia, said maybe next week. I wanted to have a play with it :(
the Touch HD wasn't heavy really(that I could tell), prob a bit heavier than the iPod Touch(1st gen) I have.

I might end up getting the G1 by the looks of things, or even the Omnia from mobiles.co.uk(comes to £370 over the 18month on the £30/month or £402 on the £35/month after the 1/2 line rental and Quidco).
 
So if Orange have it exclusive until next year, how are sites like mobiles.co.uk are selling other networks? I know they are showing pre order for O2, but there has been talk in this thread of stock being in on Monday.

I really like the look of this phone, but I can't seem to buy it on the Orange website with a decent internet allowance. Am I missing something?
 
I'm thinking of buying this phone on the £25 p/m contract. I pay £20ish a month on my really really ancient phone atm anyway so it's a no brainer for me. I don't mind paying the £100 initial fee for the phone because it looks so damn nice.

I don't mind the comments about people saying 6.1 is sluggish etc. at the end of the day it's a phone, not a PC. When you're doing things with it it shouldn't be 3/4 apps open at once, imho anyway, or at least how I use a phone. Treat her nicely and she'll treat you back nicely - although the missus doesn't seem to comprehend this notion at the best of times :)

Just one thing - "Line rental £22.50 by redemption" - what is this and how does it work etc.?

edit - ok found it, obviously that's their most expensive contract deal for the phone at 45. I wouldn't pay that. Doesn't seem like I can go much wrong with the cheapest deal though :)

o2. Although I am unsure as to when it is out. It doesn't clearly say anywhere on mobiles.co.uk when the handset is out though from reading some comments in this thread people are slating it for a Monday release from them.

I'm a bit dubious about buying it ATM because of this. I don't want to pre-order something that isn't coming out till Christmas time.

For me it has to be on o2 as well cos my number is my mobile business number.
 
One question on O2 tariffs - If I chose the lowest tariff (as above), can I then buy the bolt on for £7.50 for unlimited web, or is that only for certain tariffs?

Just spoke to Orange and they don't do any data tariffs with more than 250mb of browsing which just wouldn't cut it for me.

I'm really loving the HD now, it looks awesome.
 
get one you won't be dissapointed, I have just got my second one after breaking my first and it is so much better than my m700. how things have moved on in eighteen months.

I may well be but I'd like to phone them tommorow to find out when it is available on o2 and ask them about data tariffs etc.
 
Well I popped into Orange yesturday and had a brief play with the HD and I liked it slot, especially how quick & responsive it is when a lot of programs are open(had like 10+ open).

I am still in 2 minds about which network to go for though, as O2 have a 200mb data limit and Orange have a 250mb limit.

does o2 really only give 200mb??? thats absolutely shocking. t-mob give 1gb! i thought orange were at the arse end of the data market offering a pathetic 250mb, but no no, along comes o2 charging £7.50 per month for 200mb? jesus. i was about to switch to them as well.
