Poll: Poll: Brush teeth.... hot or cold water?

My wife and I have a disagreement, she brushes her teeth with hot water and I with cold. I have never known anyone else to brush with hot. Can we get a poll to see if this is common or not?

My thinking is that hot water softens the tooth brush bristles making them less effective.

I don't understand. What do you do with the water? I'm serious. I only use water to rinse the brush when I've finished.
