Bought this yesterday and after struggling with the cranky gameplay in FC2 it's a breath of fresh air. Yes you die and grenades are still a PITA but the game is excellent.

No problem running on my hardware (see below) at max res on my monitor 1680 x 1050. Only issue as I'm not bothered about MP I didn't install Punkbuster so it flags up an annoying message on loading the game. Also the Installer failed to put an entry in the Start Menu/Programs or icon on the desktop.

However once the game starts it really is excellent. Played through the first Jap campaign last night. Kudos to the developer for the flamethrowers, once I'd picked one up I didn't want to relinquish it for another weapon. The effects are well scary as you torch the Jap soldiers they run around screaming then dying. I'm also led to believe you can now decapitate with headshots from heavy calibre weapons, though I haven't seen that yet.

Good news too, the game doesn't appear to install any SecureROM or DRM malware, just enter the code and play with DVD - which is fine by me.

Yes you can decapitate with shotguns, on later levels you get a sawn off double barrelled shotgun, make sure you get up close and BOOM! Nice messy headshot :)

Mine started working fine once I uninstalled and reinstalled my x-fi drivers using driver sweeper to get rid of any left over files.

Also I've turned pretty much everything off in the x-fi control panel apart from the crystalliser thingy.

The game never drops below 50fps now on full with 4xAA and 16xAF at 1360x768

anyone else having trouble connecting to the on line profile server?

Iam now have trouble connecting Yesterday online was no problem today cannot get past the online profile screen !!!

although the activision recommends adding port forwarding udp and tcp ports etc done that mad no difference
!

Has anyone else experienced the minor annoyance of being killed but the game not ending?
Had to restart the 2nd mission three times after that stonker of a bug... (Solution: Don't get killed...)
I'm also getting annoyed at the game not being able to be restored after minimising. I never want to minimise it, but using ctrl as crouch and occasionally needing to press esc to pause etc. means I'm ****** (also happens when I slip on the Windows key...). This could be a graphics driver issue or something else system related, but it didn't happen in CoD4.
Checkpoints are shafted (for me) when the above issue happens, you WILL start the mission again.

The other irritant, damn NPC's... How can they be so annoying!? Either running right infront of you when you're shooting or running into you. Wouldn't normally mind but for the fact they are an unstoppable force and will push you into oblivion.

It seems like a pretty good campaign mode so far, but CoD4 spoiled me and the minor things are causing annoyance.

I'm also getting annoyed at the game not being able to be restored after minimising.

I've heard people reporting this but I haven't had any issues quitting and rejoining - except in servers where it registers it as 999 ping and it boots me for high ping.

What are everyones FPS like in multiplayer? Mine are normally between 80-90 on everything full on an ATI 4870. Annoying my brother who gets only around 10-15 more.

I'm running this on my 4870 and got it maxed out at 1900x1200, just had a quick bash and certainly liked what I saw. Its a shame that the server is down at the moment.
