Hello b-star, that particular ATI Radeon 4870 512MB looks absolutely fine. However, depending on the price, you may be better of going with the 1024MB variant of the ATI Radeon 4870. :)

Hi b-star, if you can get a ATI Radeon 4870 1024MB for under £200 then I would look at getting one of those. If not then £165 for the 512MB variant of the ATI Radeon 4870 is a very good price and would look at purchasing one.

Now, you mention the ATI Radeon 4850, if you are looking at buying one of those then go for the ASUS card since it's only £135. The performnance difference between the 512MB and 1024MB variants of the ATI Radeon 4850 is mininmal at best. I certainly wouldn't advise spending £165 on a ATI Radeon 4850.

What sort of resolution are you going to game at and what is the make of your power supply unit? :)

Hi b-star, at that sort of resolution I would look at getting the ATI Radeon 4850 and at £117, it will be a fantastic purchase. Now, with regards to your power supply unit. I would honestly look at changing it since having had a quick look around, I see you can buy the power supply unit you have for £25 which is extremely cheap. I wouldn't advise running anything of a £25 power supply unit. :)

Yep agree, with that res just go for a 4850.

What is the spec of the rest of your system?

Hello, i see now, thank you for your advises, you are very helpful.

can you advise any good psu for 4850?
and if in case i chose club 3d 4870, psu for this card too!
thank you

Hi b-star, as Duke has already said, what sort of other hardware components does or will your system consists off and how much are you willing to spend on a power supply unit? :)

specs are above,..well, i don't want to spend more than £50...

what about this?

580W XPower Light ATX PSU?

Hi b-star, I can't say I have heard much about XPower Light power supply units but judging by the price of them, I personally wouldn't recommend buying one. I would look at purchasing a power supply unit from a well known manufacturer such as Corsair, Enermax, PC Power & Cooling etc.

Have a look at the Corsair VX 450W ATX PSU which will be absolutely fine and is within your budget. :)

b-star if you decide to get a 4870 the "Palit 1gb" (or xpertvision) version is a very good choice
and can be purchased for under 200 its quieter than any of the standard models
due to a dual fan cooler, all the reviews i have read recommend this card
im surprised ocuk does not stock this card

HELLO MATES,
