Mirrors Edge - Jumping off roof tops

I bought guitar hero world tour, played it for 3 days, thought it was pants and took it back exchanged it for mirrors edge no questions asked. As longs as you return it in the same condition you bought it, they just put it back up for resale. I will do the same with mirrors edge in a few days time, straight swap it for cod :)

Surely it's not in the same condition you bought it as you've torn off the shrink wrap? <--- [EDIT] Ignore this part i didn't see your double post.

Tbh, i frustrated a few people by suggesting that someone buy a game from a store as their preorder was late then return the shrink wrapped one they receive from the online order using the stores receipt for a refund. Your method is far more immoral and therefore not likely to be received well.

It is fraud after all.

I took GHWT back and got my money back as it was rubbish. I just told them it was faulty :/ In my eyes a game that doesn't play very well and is rubbish, is faulty in my backwards world. Was considering getting Mirrors Edge but went for COD instead. Is this game anywhere near worth £40 as it still on my wanted list?

Fraud is fraud tbh.

It is but what about selling sub standard products :D The guitar for GHWT was annoying as when playing any song I would catch my finger on the start button 5-6 times a song causing it to pause the game because of it's poor placement.

Anyway, you're right but as comsumers we shouldn't have to put up with it and in a way it's fighting back albeit the wrong way.

Anyway back on topic.......

and an unnecessary post is an unnecessary post. Its between the shop and him, many shops have no quibble guarantee's and it isnt like he copied it and took it back is it.

He's just admited that he took the game back and lied about it's condition.

Taking it back and asking for a full refund because the game is faulty after you've played it is fraud. You'd pay for renting the game normally, so why is it acceptable to do it in this circumstance?

I can believe the number posts there are promoting screwing businesses out of cash in the Console forums now...

Not sure if the most common game store still does it but they used to have a no quibble returns policy and I took several games back and just said I didnt like it and they didnt complain. Doing that deliberately is a different matter though, after all you can buy them online for a good price and sell them on the member's market and generally only lose a tenner maximum depending how long you hold on to the game.

I will be picking up mirrors edge from the MM in the next few weeks hopefully, I have too many games already that I need to finish (Fable, Fallout, COD WaW and some older ones).

Thing is I didn't lie about it I told them it locked up my xbox, which it did twice. Sure it probably my xbox but it hasn't happened on any other game, but to be fair that was the last straw as the start button issue and crapness of the game had already made up my mind. I also told them about the start button problem too.

To be fair most game stores do a "no quibble" 7 day returns thing, so I don't see the issue with taking a game you don't like back; that's the whole point of that returns policy. To me, it only becomes a moral problem if you love a game, but finish it as fast as you can so you can take it back and get something else.

Using that logic, could you justify £40 on a crappy game that lasted 20 hours?

Surely if the game is then that's all that matters. Length isn't the be all and end all of whether you're getting value for money.

I absolutely agree, one of the best games I've played was Bioshock, whos campaign was not "that" long. However, my point is not that you should only shell out £40 if you're getting over 50 hours of gameplay or something. What I mean is that, from the sounds of it, Mirror's Edge won't take many people long to complete, and a fair few of them won't see the appeal in playing through it more than once or twice, so there will be a good number of second hand copies floating around pretty soon!

If, in a couple of weeks, there are no second hand copies to be seen, and everyone is playing through Mirror's Edge incessantly, then of course I will buy it. I'm sure that the game experience is worth £40 (certainly seems so from the demo), but I just don't see the point in buying it for £40 today if I could get it for £30 in two weeks time...I'm not knocking the game, as it looks ace, and if I had a reasonable amount of money at the moment it would be in my PS3 right now...

Just to let you know, on US PSN the Mirrors Edge music is free to download (both MP3 and WAV) :D

I think there was a few of us who were after it...

ps3ud0

Played it through loads of times now, got 800 odd achievement points in it just got some speedruns and time trials to go. They are so hard though its pretty ridiculous. Housemate bought it and i completed it within 3-4 hours without shooting anybody. Once i knew where i was going hard took me slightly less time.

The brightness on some of the outside levels is a joke though. At times 3/4 of what's visible as i stand looking around is pure white. Brilliant game, lack of multiplayer and contrast/brightness issues let it down in my eyes.

Also... wtf! there was a story to it

I found pretty much the same, I went through on easy without shooting anyone and then jumped straight in to Hard mode. knowing where I was meant to go meant I was able to do the majority of the levels extremely quickly minus the odd part where you had to fight where I was let down by the ropey combat system.

I too had the same problem with the brightness, I had it set to how it recommened and outside it was ok but when I got to inside I found parts too dark so had to whack it up abit, this then left me with the outside being too white issue :(

Not going to bother with the speed runs etc as I will just get too stressed with how perfect you have to be to link some of the moves up, was an enjoyable game though and one of the better ones i've played this year despite it's flaws.

Just finished it, took me a little over 6 hours. Didn't shoot anyone either. Only bit I found hard was the server room at the end due to the volume of baddies. Good game, but far too short for my liking.
