Stretching (Ears)

Before commencing imagine yourself at 40 and see if you still think it will be cool. If so go for it if not stop at a size where it can grow back. I may have embaressing photo's of my teenage fashion mistakes but at least I won't have to take them to work with me everyday or down the aisle on my wedding day!

I've got 5mm tunnels on both sides. Got em done straight away. They used a 2.4mm needle and a taper to take it up to 5mm. No discomfort what so ever and I don't even notice they're there any more.

My mates been up to 10mm and it's healed to the point when i looks just like he had a regular piercing. It might never fully heal, but there's not a big hole or anything like the people of OcUK seem to think there would be.

I was told 10mm is largest which will heal up by the piercer. He also told me I could jump from 5 to 10mm after 6 or so months, but I've never bothered.

If stretching over time, I'd recommend 6 weeks minimum between stretches.

If you have large tunnels you can get the skin trimmed when you've had enough of them. In most cases the lobe looks almost normal after the snip.

This puts me off scalpelling/cutting...
Just be patient and stretch :p

basically yeah, i would wait about a month after getting them peirced before streching.

if you can get the needle... i used a gun for one ear and then a needle for the 2nd.

didn't notice a difference tbh.. but the needle you can get peirced bigger as advised above.

im at 10mm just now, gone to 6mm a few times then taken them out. All of the times gone back to the normal size.

as someone also said, go up a couple mm ever month maybe? think i was longer.

This seems so wierd, in fact ordinary ear piercing seems wierd to me. Doesn't anyone find it odd when you see a lot of older ladies who have pierced ears, a lot of them do, and yet it's essentially a tribal/ritual thing to do. Don't find earrings normal on anyone tbh, though even my mum has then lol.

From a technical standpoint however you are creating a potential infection hazard, modifying the shape of your ear which is the shape it is for acoustical reasons and also creating an area which can be easily damaged either by accident or in a confrontation. Makes no sense to me, sorry!

Would anyone here consider discing thier lips? I doubt it, yet it has the same origins.

They are only reversible by actually stitching your ear back together

lies

I peirce as a sideline job and would consider myself knowledgable in body mod regards and that is utter bs.

Over time all but the most extreme of stretches will generally shrink back down to normal or next to normal size.

Best bet is to do a stretch with a taper and lube, these are elongated cones used to slowly stretch the tissue over a period of many months, if you do a search on ebay you should find some appropriate ones, I suggest stainless steel if you don't mind shelling out a bit extra. Plastic tapers are porous and there may be a greater risk of infection.

You should never really take a stretch up more than 3 or 4mm at a time and each stretch should be allowed to fully heal before taking it up to the next size. The best time to stretch is just after a bath or shower, lube up the taper and gently push through, when you are nearly through line up the jewellery to the end of the taper and push through. Always support the lobe tissue at the back while pushing through as this prevent extra unnecessary damage.

Other methods of stretching include pushing several bars through one hole and just adding more and more bars over time. I find this method only really useful for tricky in between taper sizes of stretches and when you're doing your first few mm.

Another method is to use a padlock, the weight will slowly stretch the tissue over time, not really an advisible method, you look stupid and it takes a very long time.

I had it pierced out at 3mm, then eventually stretched it up to 11/12mm.

I was there when you got it pierced  you were bleeding more then i expected lol. looked good in the end :D

Anyways, OP you can get instant stretches done but you need to find somewhere good that will do them and know what they are doing, a lot of places tend to just crunch out part of your ear, much like a hole punch and you really don't want that lol. i started at 3.2 like benjo and went up from there to about 14mm i would say either get a small instant tunnel or pierced a 3.2mm ring in wait for it to heal then stretch up, i went 3.2, 4, 5, 6, 8,10, 12 and then 14 waiting between 1 and 2 weeks a stretch but it can take long, but it's worth taking it slowly or you destroy your ear and then it looks bad :( good luck on the stretch but definitely go for it cause i took my stretch out and i was at 14mm and not i am at 3mm again so if you don't like it when you have then or later in life you can just take them out and they will heal, that is as long as you don't get your ear hole punched that will mess your ear up for life :)

rule 1:
dont get it gunned at claires. get it done with a needle, this is better in the long run

rule2: wait 6to8 weeks (i think, but admittedly could be totally wrong and it maybe be months)

rule3:go slowly, or you'll get blow-outs, cat bums effect and then the only way to go back is surgery. wait an other stupidly long time between each stretch.

Do you go under the same name on BJS? I think I know who you are on there.
