Songs that give you 'goosebumps!'

A couple of years ago whilst at university in Huddersfield I did some research into the phenomenon of getting 'goosebumps' or 'the chills' from songs as we listen to them. I made some really interesting discoveries and it also opened my eyes to some really great songs, however it was a topic which could never really conclude. I think for most people who experience goosebumps from a song, there is memory or a person with a very strong psychological or emotion connection associated with it but I also discovered traits within songs such as: strong dynamic contrast ('Hope For An Angel' - Biffy Clyro) and even traits within the production of the song for example, closely double tracked vocals ('Ngiculela-Es Una Historia' - Stevie Wonder).

I thought it would be interesting if we discussed which songs give us goosebumps and at which point of the song. Or what it is about the song that gives us the chills. I'd love to make a play list of songs which have this effect on people. Post a link for the song in question and let's see if there are songs which affect a lot of people.

In my findings a song which seemed to come up a lot was 'Hide and Seek' by Imogen Heap.

Here's my last.fm by the way for anyone who wants to add me: www.last.fm/user/Wasabibest

Plus: I have to plug my music too, you never know it might give you goosebumps!

A personal one for me would also be by Stevie Wonder, the song being "Sir Duke" - needs to be played at the right time for it to feel 'goosebumpish' however. Also I'm really like your song "Magpie", became a fan on Facebook :D

DJ Sammy - Heaven. the candle light mix.

More because it was playing as my son was born.

linkin park - the little things give you away, and also krwlng.
green day - time of your life.
phil colins - in the air tonight :p
snow patrol - chocolate
The Cranberries - no need to argue
Jonny Cash - Hurt

This.

Hey Tim 'hallelujah', that came up a lot too when I did surveys, It's interesting how many versions of it there are. There must be something about that song!

And Morba, that's interesting. You must have a strong emotional connection with that track. I kind of associate Norah Jones' first album with the day my nephew was born!

And thanx Dharok. :)

Actually is a very nice song the Candle Light Remix. Couple of the instrumental/acoustic songs by DHT (Edmee does their vocals, quite similar to what DJ Sammy does) are very good also.

DHT - Drivers Seat & DHT - I Go Crazy are two of my favourites.

Dunno why I think they're good but for some reason they give me goosebumps, the words must evoke a lot emotion.

There's only one version as far as I'm concerned, and thats Buckleys - although Diana from X-factor did a really good cover recently.

Also, The Pogues - Fairytale of New york

More personal one which I expect not many people would agree on: The Strokes - I'll try anything once.

I love the Rufus Wainwright version of Hallelujah. That gives me a tingle sometimes. But you are right Buckley's version is killer.

Are you allowed to include live tracks? There is many, many live tracks that make me feel that "tingle".

Some of the stuff off daft punk's Alive 2007 even does it, the cheers when the Aerodynamic riff kicks in, or when Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger comes into the mix just make me feel awesome. Wish I could see them live.

Same with NIN - Piggy, live from And All That Could Have Been.

And All That Could Have Been itself is a track that does, as well.
