Lips Full Track List

right

Build quality

The mics are brilliant, nice and heavy, they look authentic and come with batteries

Syncing them is a right mess about, and I still haven't quite worked out how to correctly turn them off, it's just guess work, That said they are minor features

The songs

Everyone knows the song list, I have to say the list looks great on paper but some are a bit WTF in practise, e.g I love jamouriqui, but virtual insanity is a bit crazy as a kareoke song

The songs are great once you have sung a few songs, you soon realise that the game is after the pitch of your voice, much like singstar, I have tried singing the wrong words on purpose and getting less/no points. So thats a bonus

The interface

The menu screens are very clean, almost Wii-ish, no complaints

The ingame menu is a bit crazy, for all the old timers/ parents playing the game, the standard read the words while they turn red feature is there, so everyone can play, above that is each word broken down into pith and duration. It's quite funny trying to hold the long notes and see the bar fill up

Star power is a bit frustrating, basically you have to strike a pose with the mic, but I just whirl it around a bit, sadly this involves taking it away from your mouth, therefore losing points singing

The GF has noticed I seem to destroy her on songs with spoken words, wheras she is the queen of fast pop, I do feel that certain voices are better suited to this game and create an unfair advantage.

Using your own songs

Basically a bit hit / miss, obviously you don't get words, so you need to know the song, so far we only have sung "angels" by Robbie, and that worked great.

One thing that is a bit of a hit/miss depending on how you look at it is the scores at the end of the song get multiplied by how many "star power" notes you hit, so in theory you could win the song but lose after star power is added, therefore working your own scoring system may work better, i.e whoever wins before star power etc

I did notice you can get cheeky points just making noise on your "custom" songs, but so long as no-one cheats its all good

As far as I can tell the marketplace stuff is not up yet so can't comment on that, although the box says everyone gets Aha Take on Me, availible till JUNE 2009

GF says it has a nice range of songs, but you already have the song list, nice mix of young and old, that said WTF are the editors?

Overall a great party game, may sit in the corner for a few months after release but will be a great laugh at parties

I have a family birthday this wednesday, so will take it and see how "non" xboxers get on with it, should be interesting

8/10 which drops to about 6/7 when you get bored, but then it's not a standard game really. It's all about the downloadable content, who you playing with.

That said aslong as you know the words you can use your own songs that work great

ANY QUESTIONS?

Will add a lot more later

On the subject of using the mics for rockband, a patch has been mentioned but nothing solid so far, which is a big shame

This is enroute somewhere to me, sticking it away for the Mrs when it turns up. £39.71 at the supermarket if I remember rightly when I was in there tonight, so no cheaper than the net.

i dont think so.

i just noticed that the lb and rb buttons do infact work in the get music menu, strange because they wernt working last time.

Have you played it much more. Any other comments? Recommended?

What is the process of adding your own music? And is there anyway of adding the lyrics?

to answer quickly ( I will type more tomorrow)

Definately recommended, only if you see yourself using it regularily though, don't buy this on a whim, if you have people over often or a wife/GF/ someone else to play it with

Can't add own lyrics, you just choose the DRM free song you want from your mp3 player, click add then it appears within the "main song list"

As said before when you sing a custom song if you make any noise it gives you points, so you have to be careful of cheating. That said it's a good feature and offers a chance to sing whatever you want

So you can scream through the whole song and you'll win?

Bought this game yesterday and played it for hours with my 10yr old daughter (who adores it, obviously), we played it so much i had a sore throat this morning .... lol.

Some great songs to sing along to, although i found a lot of them a bit too "high" for me.
The mics are great, very well made as you'd expect and responsive, i did get a slight delay which you can offset in game.
You can download more songs from LIVE, which i did at 160 points each, although the free one "Take on Me - A-Ha" doesn't seem to want to work in game, ie it doesn't show up.
I plugged my mp3 player in and all the songs on there were available sans lyrics though.

All in all a very slick, polished game which will provide lots of fun for all the family, would also be great for parties and "after pub" get togethers :)
