So it begins, Police to be armed with stun guns

More arming of the police, I wonder what the next thing they will take away from the citizenship will be?

Removing the handgun ban and bringing in a CCW permit system would be far, far more effective at reducing crime (and assisting police officers, because legal gun holders help the police, not attack them). Shame such a practical solution would never be considered or accepted by the irrational people of this country.

Our police forces are very different to America's. With the exception of the FBI, ours are trained to a much higher standard than the police over there. In fact, many of the controversial incidents involving tazers in the states are as a result of lax firearm controls, meaning anyone can be armed with one - including security guards. That's unthinkable here.
