Well my car puts out over 255g/km so it would have gone in Band M, but it's going in to Band K :)

Well, the car tax thing is good news.
I guess all those OMG TAX RISE MUST SELL CAR people feel pretty silly now.

Anyone else think its wrong that my mums 59 bhp 205 costs the same to tax as my MR2?

Not really.

They both occupy the same amount of road and the extra fuel yours uses is covered by fuel duty.

I find it wrong that there is a difference with a large banding system that probably will run out of letters soon.

I do find it a little odd that my 1.6 106, 2.0T MR2 and 2.5 V6 Mondeo all cost the same to insure.

Why shouldn't they? They take up similar road space, they cause the same congestion and they do similar damage to the roads. You pay more to run the thirstier ones as you pay more fuel tax.

On the contrary I find the concept of a 1 litre Polo paying less road tax than a 1.8T Polo rather stupid.

I think I will buy an African country and get myself one of those tankers that those chaps 'borrowed'. No speed limits or laws, loads of guns, free oil and some rhino meat what more could a man want.
