Water cooling project

might be able to cut a rad shaped hole and space it so its half in/out of the case, have put a bid on at the bay for a cheapy so i can get some sizes and fixings sorted. looks like its going to a be a bit more involved that i first thought..will post again on any progress!!

well £25 is better than nothing and I'm not doubting your skills but mounting a rad half inside and half out side will prolly look a hash. How far is it from the top of your mobo to the roof? I would scrap the case so it can be set up with a decent rad but if I can fit 2 XSPC rads in mine it's def possible with some modding in a tower. *** about a rad in the front? Or in the floor?

Have a google for a thread called "cooler master 590/690 and watercooling" it's on the hard forum. Says a double will go in the roof with no modding and a triple in the front leaving the top bay free for a DVD drive. If you don't have a half decent set up it's no better than good air cooling and you will only update it all the time untill the budget parts are replaced.

just had a measure and dont think i will be able to fit a 120.2 internally anywhere, so going to have to rethink or buy a new case :(

I would start from the case and work backwards from there - if your not bothered about the DYI involved in preping a case, buy a case with it already done or pay for someone else to do it :D

is it worth running a 120.2 with only 1 fan, ive got 60mm clearance from the top panel and the RAM at one end of the RAD the other end is ok.
otherwise the thinnest RAD ive come across is the Black Ice GT Stealth 240 which is 29mm so plus a 25mm fan would fit nicely, just cant find a review of the RAD using my search - fu

mmmm its 34mm wide, i think im going to have to measure a bit better (ive been using a tape!!)...

edit it looks like i can use the swiftech and normal fans (25mm) it will give me 2 mm space between the fan and the RAM heatsink.
so im going to get

pump : XSPC X2O 750 Pump and Reservoir

VGA block : XSPC Full Cover Razor 4870

CPU block : Swiftech Apogee GTZ (LGA775) Waterblock or D-Tek Fuzion V2 Universal CPU Block

Radiators :Swiftech MCR240-QP-B 120mm Radiator

plus bits.

ok what else will i need i have got 1/2"barbs, 7/16 tubing, some feser one coolant?

can i get right angle barbs cant find any on OC website?
do i need a flow meter as im using black coolant in black tubing?
i have got arctic silver paste is this ok?

mmm have just noticed that i can get splitters shall i cool the cpu and GFX in parallel or series?

2mm isn't a lot to play with! you might have to get a 20mm fan for that side as Bradley suggested, see how it goes.

You'll get right angle barbs no probs.

i'd stick with in series, probably cpu then gpu. You won't need a flow meter, you should hear the pump starting when you switch on and you'll see or hear movement in your pump/res (if you are looking in there) - if that's what you are worried about? Does it have to be black coolant?

nope 2 mm isnt a lot t play with might have to mod a fan a bit to squeeze it in!
and i want black coolant, not into garish bits any more just want it to be quiet and cool.
getting the bits delivered next week when missus is away..hehe she will never know :))

Bits have arrived, but im now in 2 minds whether to put the GPU block in or not as i have the neo vortex air cooler fitted at the moment and its pretty damn good.
i can see the GPU + CPU loop not working to well with the swiftech.
is anyone else cooling both with the swiftech? what are the temps like?
