Well i have seen said item before.. But why its in yer car i have no idea .

Its used by windowtinters for easing the film round the door/window rubbers. Maybe the tinter went for a joy ride

Nope, I asked for a keyring but the service guy said that he didn't have any at the moment and that he'd have to go on a 'raiding mission' to get some on Saturday, but that he'd keep one to one side for me and to ask next time I came in

+1 although the normal BMW trim removal tool I've seen is normally rectangular and has a tapered flat edge on one side.

I think it is for trim removal also, probably used it to get the handbrake cover off to adjust it up on the service (even though they pull off easily, no pun intended).
