I'd be suprised - 89.9p is a bit cheap for petrol refined from $80/bbl crude?

More like it shouldn't; it does tend to have an effect much quicker than it "should do" when the price is going up

My point was that today's fuel prices are not based on today's $53/bbl oil price.

According to Bloomberg , Diesel prices in northwest Europe averaged $993.46/MT where as gasoline was $893/MT. (For the year)

Massive difference when you factor in that 1 MT of gasoline is more in terms of litres than diesel.

im not liking how tescos do business, the closer station were we do the shopping( its a bigger store) is at 90.9 were as the 2 slightly further away smaller stores are at 89.9

My local Shell is at 88.9 I think - I'll check on my way home. I think I saw a Jet fuel station selling it for 86.9p though.

Leeds Shell is 90.9
Wakefield shell is 89.9

obviously run by different fanchises.

petrol stations all over the UK are like this. What do you expect, Tesco to have a fixed price throughout the country?
