Rules:
-Like the name that car thread over in Motors.
-Previous winner post next challenge.
-Must use only items in your house when you started. Minus any prohibited items.
-You may use data collected from the internets.
-Photo of creation required if possible.
-Brief description of your MacGyver skills would be nice.

And to kick us off:

Measure the hight of a 2l pop bottle, doesn't matter what brand, as the challenge is in the measuring device you create.

Prohibited items:
-Anything with a scale on it (like a ruler).
-Anything with a measurement readout.

I won't answer this one, but I know the exact height of the bottles you mean because recently I've been helping a neighbours kid to make CO2 rockets.

Did you have to improvise to measure it?

I came up with this because I needed to measure something recently and I didn't have a ruler. Quite proud of what I came up with, interested to see if anyone else comes up with the same hack.

No, he used a tape-measure. However, I'm pretty sure a bit of trigonometry and object of known length (CD case?) would have got the correct answer.

Getting close, if you can explain the trig used I'll give you it. No maths used in my solution BTW.

How can you measure an object in a unit of measurement without using any scale? Unless you already happen to know the size of something but then that isn't really very creative.

I usually break out the A4 sized paper in this scenario. 210mmx297, fold in half and you get 10.5x~15cm. That covers most things.

You don't state what we have to measure the bottle in (cm/Inches etc). A 2l coke bottle is exactly 2 cans of Carlsberg and a DVD wallet's width tall.
