Grrrr:(

Okay so like I suspect many a fellow OcUK'er I live in a flat. And living in a flat you have to have a little bit of give and take over noise. I'm not really that fussy don't really care to much if someone comes in a 2AM and makes a bit of a racket, as long as it doesn't last too long. But why oh why do people INSIST on making a racket first thing on a Saturday morning.

This morning I was woken up by some muppet VACUUMING at 8:30AM! I mean surely there are better (and quieter) thinks do on at that time on a Saturday morning! Then there's one couple that live next to me that seem to invite half of Bristol into there flat (the rah rah type that you can hear from about 10 mies away) at 9PM on a Sunday!

I'm very close to going round and sticking their henry the hover up their ***.

Anyway else hate it when people make a racket in the mornings at weekends - should we form a task force and nuke them all from orbit:confused:

Slang for Sandwich/Bread Roll I believe. I find the wholesale adoption of the term "cob" in this context very frustrating. Yet another sign of the English language being dumbed down.

8.30 isn't too early to start making noise, most of us wake up before 8 in the real world :)

The people below me had their flat completley refitted which involved 7am to 7pm 7 days a week for two weeks, I did go and speak to them about that ! Sounded like they were going to come up into my flat with there air chisel on a couple of occasions..

its not unfair to expect people to be a little considerate early in the morning on a weekend. believe me, i know what its like. i live in a flat as well and it can be a pain in the arse at times. especially when the the guy above me thinks it'd be fun to play music and ridiculous volumes at 2am on a friday morning.

yes on a weekday, when we're working.

From the other side...

We always get complaints from upstairs about our kids screaming and shouting (Only during the day mind). I mean, what does he expect from two 1 year olds and a 3 year old? What does he expect me to do? Gag them?

Not trying to be rude but I dont really think there is anything wrong with hoovering at that sort of time.....some people like to get their chores done early in the morning!

I had Polish people above me that would play music so loud you could see ripples in drinks forming (like in jurasic park) at 2 in the morning. When I went up to tell them to turn it down they said....'no'. (I went ape**** and sorted it but thats beside the point).

Thats antisocial

Hoovering at 8.30am isn't too unreasonable. In previous flats I've had people doing it at 7am, or 11pm. Luckily the flat I have now has more reasonable neighbours. Plus I live on the top floor which helps.

8:30 is what it is, early for the op. He probably went to sleep later than most so not so lazy considering.

You might want to remove the swearing although I'm glad it worked out for you.

8:30 isn't the worst time in the World to be woken up by hoovering, sure it's annoying but it could be worse, I've had a drum circle practicing outside the window at that time in the morning - that really doesn't help with sleeping.

The problem you have is that you have morning people and evening people. Morning people will probably be up at or before 07:30 even on the weekend and will see no problem in vacuuming at 08:30, they wont want to creep around for half the morning just because someone else didn't go to bed until 02:00, and quite frankly why should they ... most normal people, (i.e. those who are not students or young singles with no responsibilities), are up and around by that time.

Personally I try not to do noisy things on a Saturday morning before 09:30-10:30 but that's really because that when I get back from doing everything I need to do down town .... even so I have had a neighbor before now who used to get stroppy if I out the washing machine on at 10:30 on a Saturday morning (tough the lazy cow was told!).

I have things to do tomorrow morning so I'll be up by 07:30 at the latest, nothing I'll be doing is particularly noisly but I'm not going out my way to be quiet.

My flat mate was cleaning since about 9 this morning (and so she would be, wench! ;) :p) I don't see 8.30 as unreasonable on a Saturday at all. Fair enough if your not a morning person but neither am I, you just have to get on with it!

Atleast you don't hear the neighbours going at it at 3am...
