GTA IV DRM

Isn't that drm the same that fallout 3 had? Just a quick disk check. I'm really not bothered about this drm. My brother though was ranting how it is "Spyware". People calling it spyware now?

Frankly the only thing I miss about previous games is the radio stations, otherwise SA all the way for me now.

Yeah, same here. Although I've not played SA for ages now. Much better game.

I hope that R* sort out some decent extra content/add ons for GTA IV PC, because without them it's just going to crash and burn.

Not sure how the modding community will get on with it, but hopefully they'll do something if need be (although that might take a while).

SA was a more complete game, and the various mods available made it a lot more fun/interesting, especially MTA:SA. Come to think of it, the console version of GTA IV had all this and was still a big disappointment (at least for me this was due to auto-aiming and the analogue stick controls). I used to love MTA:SA and the way the vehicles worked. Hopefully the PC version of IV will address this to some extent, and at least I won't have to use those damn stupid wobble sticks to control the cars and online racing might be a bit better because of this.

I heard it recommends a quad core. Do you think duals will still run it well?

Any benchies yet of the engine running on a PC?

I'll eat my own poo if a decent dual core CPU won't handle it well. It damn well should!

Not that many people (relatively) have an uber PC, so R* can hardly expect people to pay hundreds of quid just to play it.

It's a matter of playing it, or playing it well.

Anyway I still reckon a quad will yield pretty abysmal gains.

Oh yeah found the thread. Shame he hasn't posted any impressions of it though!

I never realised it would be on two discs either.

He can't play it till Wednesday. :)

Yeah its 2 disc, one of the reasons i didn't bother gettng it through Steam, can't be bothered to wait for it all to download. :D

For what it's worth PC Format are reporting the game reguarly dropped below 30 fps at the recommended settings, even on a gtx280 and that it may be worth waiting for a driver update or patch before you buy ..make of that what you will

Am I right in thinking the PC release is twice the size of the console one? Unless the PS3 version comes on a BD-ROM and the X360 one is on a HD-DVD, why is it that we need two DVDs, and a whopping 18Gb of space?

What CPU were they using? Could be it's more CPU dependent than GPU. I hope so for the sake of us who don't have high end GPUs.

The 360 one is on DVD so I dunno - higher resolution textures perhaps? Even so it does seem massive.
