can you buy the domminator DD3 cooling fans seperatly as yet? I know you can get the ddr ddr2 ones (three in a row) but the new one seems to cover all the 6 slots?

I did test the Dominator 2 recently, and I didn't like it at all. Basicaly it blocks the 'natural' airflow by being quite bulky, and you end up having to crank it up just to reach the temperatures you had /without/ the cooler...And at full blast to get any improvement..

Needless to say, I removed it...

It's a good idea to add a temp probe into your ram sticks and mesure whats going on before, and after you install the fan.. otherwise you're just wasting wattage for placebo :D

just put a 120mm fan over 6 sticks, would be cheaper, quiter and give a higher airflow,
tho how you'd mount it is another matter...

those fans are complete waste, i have taken them out and they sit in a box. they block airflow in case and collect dust (hard to clean even using compressed air)

ps - they aren't worth their delivery charge

The new fans use 2 x 60mm fans instead of 3 x 40mm. The body is wider than the 40mm version so it can cover the 6 slot i7 boards. It should be available retail soon if it is not already.

i fitted the 3 fan dominator cooling thing and tbh it looked like it would block the good airflow to the RAM and restrict the air available to the cpu heatsink fan.

it was a little fiddly to fit and the clamps dont clamp firmly u can pretty much slide it off even when its fully tightened.

im using an antec 900 atm so its got farily rediculus air flow anyway.
