Hi

Went to Bedford yesterday for my first proper trackday. Was just a novice afternoon (that turned out to be full of non novices )

Turned up and found the fog to be simply terrible, there was speculation that the event was going to be cancelled and after an hour of waiting it was. We were told we would get a discount off another trackday but if we wanted to stick around to see if the fog lifted we could and I'm bloody glad i did as i got a couple of hours on track. Car handled fantastically on the new suspension / Geo but i must admit on the cold wet track found it a bit of a handful at first. I'm used to being able to throw around my cars with ease but this was so much harder and i spun it on the first corner on my first lap :D

Anyway cannot wait to get my next day booked with the discount they offer me. I Evan managed to keep up with an Exige S for a session. Had a quick chat with him after and he was pretty new to it too but thought the turbo was a quick little motor to be keeping up.

Car needs some decent brake lines and fluid mind you as the brakes were becoming crap by the end of each session.

Heres a few photos

Thanks the car drive's very nicley. As i said the brakes need sorting but some fluid and decent lines should do the trick for the moment. Hopefully by jan i will have some TDs with Toyo 888s too ready for the summer, bit of a Christmas pressie

:)

What pads are you running? Try some Mintex 1144 should last a lot longer than the stock "Brembo" pads. If you've got some cash to splash then go for some Pagid's which combined with braided hoses and a flush of the fluid should prevent fading altogether.

Nice one Sam, I did track day there in the ST220 on 13th November in pouring rain. It was a right laugh being able to go past much faster machinery struggling for grip out of corners and aquaplaning :D

Neil.

Hi Nathan

They are mintex discs and 1144 pads, much MUCH better than the standard stuff but yes your right i definitely need some lines and some new fluid which is priority before the next track day

You're keeping it now then?

Yes for now, someone wanted to come and look at it and i actually turned them down before i took the ad off pistonheads .... Hope i wont regret it haha

True very true, i had a play with an integra (DC2) and overtook him but it was towards the end and the track had dried out a fair bit. At the start of the day i think my friend in his ST would have been able to corner as fast as i was :p

I'm using Mintex pads and EBC Ultimax rotors on the Elise and can't fault them.

Nice looking car. Debadged and in blue with the small plate looks good.

I need to get some EBC Ultimax rotors. I love how they don't rust on the unswept areas  Good thing is my current ones are the stock and they've done 30K miles now and have a pretty big lip on them so I may be able to justify the EBC's at the next service in 3 months :o

How much are the discs and pads for the 111R nathan ? I paid under £200 for mintex discs and mintex 1144 pads all round :D

Sam

Looks like a good day mate and the vx is looking fantastic. Got Mintex 1144 on the Clio Sport along with Braided lines and Brembo HC discs, massive improvement.

Sam, isn't the vs insanely equipped to start with brakes wise ? Something random like 6 pots at the front and 4's at the back ?

Nope don't think so, perhaps you've seen a modified one?

Tbh a car that light doesn't really need super mega brakes as standard they just need to be fade resistant, looking on the PH adverts they seem to have 2 pots at the front?

Car looks great btw sam, really sorted round the bends!
