The "Oh is the Carling Cup on? I barely noticed/cared" thread *SPOILERS*

lulz, nothing but fickle, how Fergie benches him I will never ever know.

Feed Maradona's son and he will score.

He didnt deserve a start, the AV game confirmed that, and a few others

Im glad he is back on form though, but I still think over top teams having Rooney and Tevez in the same team doesnt work more often than it works and Berba may not score a lot but he links up play better uptil now

who says tevez cant score :), great performance by him :)

He didnt in three consecutive starts (apart from a pen in the 1st)

Burnley are the first club to beat Wenger during his time here in England. Considering our manager's policy on the cup competitions and how long he's been here that's pretty good going!

Not fickle at all, For a good couple of months Tevez has not deserved to start, whether his head hasn't been in the right place or he's just been on a poor run of form is unknown. Tonight he looked like a different player and its great to see :)

Im glad Im not the only person thinking this - as Im also glad he has now found his form from last season :D

He benches him because he's been out of form and there are players playing better than him ready to take his place. No point playing a player because of what he can do when he's playing well, if he isn't playing well.

Now, it seems, it's clicked for him again, and he's now worth a starting place to see if he can make it a run of form.

are you watching the same games i am ?

so far i have seen every man utd game and tbh berba has disrupted the flow more than anything, yes he can link up, yes he can find a pass and yes he can finish on occasion but all of that added up does not equal what he has taken away from the team.

i will not post what that is, howeer im sure if you cannot see it others on here will and hopefully point it out to you.

lets face it rooney and tevez won us the PL and the CL berba has done nothing.

he was our best player pre season and also probably our best player till we signed berba, wonder where the link is to how and why he suddenly isnt performing, oh yes its cos he doesnt play anymore.

Having seen the goals I think Foster should have done better for all 3, especially with the last two :(

...and does anyone else think that Tevez is looking more and more like some crazy wildman every day? :D

Tevez was indeed our best player pre-season and then into the early parts of the league too.
When berba arrived however, he was thrown onto the bench. This wasn't fair on him but then the same was true last season, when he was playing better than Rooney and yet whenever we started a big game with just one of them - he was benched then too.
Still, life isn't always fair.
On the odd occasion he has featured since the signing of Berba, he has (imo) been mostly poor and could have few complaints about not being put back in.
Today we saw him doing what he needed to do, proving his point.
Hopefully SAF will notice and start with him Saturday.

Was fairly impressed by Burnley last night, first time I've seen them this season.

Wilshere looked good again in the first half, I really wish he'd get picked ahead of the likes of Song and Denilson normally. He's deceptively strong considering his slight frame and is seemingly fearless.

Hmmm. It didn't work last season did it?
How has the Rooney and Berbatov partnership flourished against Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool? Berbatov has been useless in all 3 and of all our strikers only one of them scored in those games... Tevez.

Tevez and Rooney DOES work. It flourished last season and both those players allow Ronaldo so much freedom to get around the area, something that isn't happening with Berbatov in the team, who for all his fantastic ability on a ball is just too lazy against big teams and doesn't work - his performances against the 3 mentioned above and Villa were embarassing. His star performances have been at West Ham (nice assist) and Celtic (two offside goals).

Tevez was poor against Villa, but so was everyone else and even then he wasn't the worst player on the pitch.

Tevez being dropped due to a lack of form is a fallacy, he was the in-form player when he was dropped then given 5 or 10 minutes here, it does your confidence no good at all really does it, nor does it give you long to correct anything.

He didnt [score] in three consecutive starts (apart from a pen in the 1st)
So he did score then?
Or don't penalties count any more? Maybe someone should tell the authorities that Ronaldo didn't actually score 42 last season.
