Authentic watch vs Replica

My watch means a lot to me because everytime I wear it, I do feel a sense of achievement of being able to own a nice watch.

You are confused, I don't go around hurling abuse to the ****** who wear fakes, but when they approach me at one of our events me how much money they earn etc, it's amusing that a lot of the time, they are wearing something fake, at which point I'll ask them what they are doing at our event AND wearing a fake wolox!

are your "events" grand openings of new models of watches or something?

just because someone is wearing a fake does not mean that they do not deserve to be there or they do not earn however much they say they earn. i know someone who wears fake jacob who drives a $90,000 car and lives in a house worth over $2,000,000. just because he's wearing a fake doesnt mean he doesnt have money, it simply means he doesnt think the real deal is worth the money, he also watches copied dvd's and downloads music from the internet, even though the real deal is marginally better in quality. people look at his watch and think could that possibly be real? but if they saw him stepping out his car, or were at his home, would they not immedietely assume its real? i've had strippers who can tell fakes from genuine look at my jacob examine it closely and then ask me whether its real or not, one of them even took the time to look at the label of every piece of clothing i was wearing and my cuff links, then asked me OMG what do you do for a living? i doubt you tell a fake so easily as by having a glance at it, a decent one anyway. its the same with copied dvd's, if i download a 1080P version of 300 then burn it to a dual layer dvd-r and played it right beside an original DVD copy of 300 i bet you hardly anyone would know the difference only a select few could tell so easily, without going up to the screen and examining the picture in great detail. I have a selection of Rado's which are real, I bought them because i thought the real deal was worth the money, I do however know i wouldnt spend more than $6,000 on a watch unless i was earning more than $200,000 a year and even then i probably wouldnt do it due to the fact the money would be better spent on a car or investment.

How do you spot a fake? Are you a watch specialist?

No i'm not a specialist but do like watches a lot and can usually tell a knock off.

No the 'events' are nothing to do with watches. In my experience though, those that wear fake watches and the like, want to come across as someone they are not and we have no time for those people.

It's interesting to hear that all the successful people you know wear fake watches, I don't think that is common though. Quite bizarre actually. Are you a watch expert who thinks genuine watches aren't worth it in the same way you think many cars are crap from your experience of sitting in thousands of them?

Also, you say you've had several strippers question the quality of your watch, you must really come across as a bit of a Carlos Fandango:p

I've snipped out most of this horribly long paragraph just to remind you to use the right currency when making up stories on the internet.

There are plenty of decent 'homage' watches out there that look similar to the big guns, but they're not half as cack as the low-end knock offs and won't make you look like quite so much of a spiv by wearing one. Some homage brands/models are rubbish though.

a fake Jacob and a real Jacob may well be difficult to tell apart as they are both as **** as each other

They have to be the worst watches ever. I pity the people who actually do buy the genuine article.

A £200 watch is usually a £200 watch , a £200 fake is a £30 watch with a £200 price tag

no tbh a fake £200 rolex is worth £200

ive seen one that only professionals can tell are fake...

i.e. i couldnt scratch the lens with a 12inch hunting knife, and i tried..

anyway the main point is whoever wears a rolex is a absolute MUG

real=rich mug
fake= poor mug

there all mugs

further about rolex fakes.. i knew someone long time ago who sold 3 levels £45/£200 and £450.. and from what i could tell he sold the £450 one as real on ebay atleast 10 times and no1 ever knew. and i think half of them used escrow on a "specialist" he told me the best ones came with real documents, so when you checked the warranty at rolex HQ it was sold at *** which matched everything.. no idea how that happened, but obviously someone working for rolex has started this scam...

for all i know they might have all been 100% real but stolen or something

if i download a 1080P version of 300 then burn it to a dual layer dvd-r and played it right beside an original DVD copy of 300 i bet you hardly anyone would know the difference only a select few could tell so easily, without going up to the screen and examining the picture in great detail.

well the REAL retail DVD in that case would have less quality than the download..

a 720p download is id say around 10% better than a DVD (thats a guess not a figure i worked out)

Don't buy a fake Rolex, it's too unreal IMO, no one wears a £800+ watch out and about and if you do they'll take you up on it go for something that's more in the £300-£500 range if you want people to believe you.

Fake Rolexes are soo common.

The reason I bought my watch was the sense of achievement and feel that comes with it. It's like wearing a nice suit, it makes you feel the part. A knock off watch will not and its purely for showcasing you are a tight arse. Having a fake is a lose/lose situation.

The amount of people we catch out at our events, attempting to be all smarmy and condescending whilst wearing fakes is highly amusing and we do let them know!

Exactly, people who tend to show off their watches are usually the ones wearing fakes. I love my TAG becuase it feels good, tells the time, and is my piece of jewellery.

Let me just state aswell, a knock off watch being shown off is just showing how much of a tight arse you are !

What if you like the look of a posh watch but don;t want to spend the money on it?

Realise that you cant have everything you want in life? I really like the look of the Aston V8 Vantage but don't want to spend the money on it. So I have something else :p

Nothing wrong with that at at all. It's just the people that like to brag about their watch and think it is something that it isn't.

Hey look at my M&S suit, it is in the same style as a handmade suit with the same labels on, so the handmade one is a waste of money and everyone who gets one is a mug.

^ That seems to be the nature of a number of replies in this thread, tbh it's getting boring now. Just go buy your cheap watch and be happy, then buy that £400 gfx card that gives you bragging rites on a forum showing off your amazing FPS in a £30 game ;):D

and if someone offered you a car which looked almost exactly the same and performed better for less money?

Remember though that £30 game actually cost several million pounds to make, your 15k watch cost several hundred (at best) ;)

Why not? I wear a £4.5k watch every single day. The value of it doesn't bother me because 1. it's insured (although only since 3 days ago, and I've been wearing it for 2 years), and 2. No one would really believe it's real anyway, as (as you say) there's so many fake Rolexes about.

Whilst I don't really agree with buying expensive watches I still wouldn't wear a fake. Probably because it's just that - fake - trying to be something it's not. I'd rather find a cheap 'real' watch I liked the look of.
