New "Live at the Appolo"

Ohhhhhh ohhh ohhh.... my sex is on fire~

I just watched it over lunch on BBCi, think i have some munched up salad somewhere in between my keyboard keys...

Thought it was brilliant.

Michael McIntyre is fantastic. He's one of the funniest comedians and doesn't have to resort to swearing or slating to be funny.

Welsh guy was a little odd, surprised he had much voice left after growling into the mic for that length of time.

I dont think I've seen Michael McIntyre before but it was a change to see him last night for the first time and as mentioned above, good without resorting to swearing etc.
Might look up the DVD myself, or have I basically seen all the best bits on the Apollo? Reminds me of a Lee Evans/Billy Connolly on the observational front.

All that Mock The Week is, is a chance for the stand ups on the show to showcase different parts of their act,
They dont sit there and come up with stuff of the top of their head to the questions they are given.
The live at the Apollo show is just edited highlights of of an hour long set that each stand up does, it is just another tour date for them.

Ergo, if you watch:

2 series of Mock The week.
Live at the Appollo
Frankie boyle live.

All in the same year, you wont see anything you have not seen before by the time you get to the live DVD, as these shows are toured for over a year some times.

Fully aware of that. I thought his new DVD would have new stuff on it. But obviously I'm gonna have to wait until next year, but, I suspect by the time his next DVD comes out I'll have seen all his new jokes anyway due to me following his acts and TV show appearances.

McIntyre - I've seen his performance about 10 times now, on youtube there's all sorts of gigs, and it's the same couple of act. I have no problem with that - he's a really funny observational comedian. On the apollo last night it did appear to be new stuff I hadn't seen before.

I saw McIntyre last sunday at the apollo, just his stand up and that thing on BBC were just a handfull of the jokes from his stand up so a bit disappointing. Still very very funny guy tho, big fan of observational humour. :)

I really don't like michael mcintyre. Bit erratic and just annoys me. Give me lee evans. :p (not really a good comparison but hey)

Dara o'brien is brilliant though! (that how you spell his name?)

McIntyre is superb, by far and away the best stand-up I've heard since before Jimmy Carr became a big name. I guess he's bound to use similar stuff to his DVD, which tends to signal 'the end' of that material, so as to keep future live shows completely fresh. If you saw a comedian via TV or a DVD, and then went to one of his live shows, you wouldn't want to see the same material.

Used to much of his material from his DVD, a bit limited in that respect. Very clever, funny guy. Welsh dude was a bit strange although i chuckled a bit. Apart from the time he was literally having a conversation with a solider from the audience.

McIntyre was brilliant, Rich Hall was quite good, but the Welsh fellow wasn't great. They should have come on in reverse order.
Looking forward to the Sean Lock episode most.

Agreed, his shouting was funny at first but a bit annoying by the end.

chris rock.. the thing i found was that it was pretty ,much all about the N word.. at least live at the appollo had abit more breadth of topics

Not really, only the last 10-15 minutes was about that. I found his pace and breadth of topics quite impressive actually. I wasn't ROFLING, but some of his stuff was quite funny and well observed.

my wife hates al murray. that means she has gone to bed.

i like al murray, lots :D especially in HD (just because i can!)
