I'm pretty sure that's exactly what it was. They'll have seen how much attention the McCann case got, and how high the amount of money in the "fund" got and thought..."I want some of that".

Pity they were just too pig-**** thick to formulate anything close to a decent plan.

Honestly, if things had panned out the way they wanted, it would have been the kid's UNCLE finding her in the market, then claiming the reward money?!?! Any normal person in a genuine situation would have forgone the money and simply been happy the child had been found. Instead, they would have then asked to be handed the reward? This alone would have led to massive public scrutiny on the family and the truth would inevitably out.

An example of the mentality of Britain's knuckle-dragging underclass if ever there was one.

If theres one good thing that has come out of this it's good to see, despite the publics general conception that they're ***** council scum how the who area pulled together and helped look for young Shannon. You wouldn't get that kind of support from middle-class types.

Certainly makes you shudder if this is what 11 years of NuLab "social engineering" has given us - a sub human underclass with no morals or honour and respect for society. At least while she's in gaol my taxes will only be subsidising her keep but these people are only the tip of the iceberg, sitting at home on the social, having kids, watching telly and not contributing one iota of usefulness to society. At the risk of going OT, it's about time the welfare state was re-organised back to the safety net it used to be. Particularly this time of year as the 40% tax starts to kick in, I'm fuming that *my* (and every other honest taxpayers) contributions are going towards paying for the chain smoking/chain shagging habits of these people.

You argument is somewhat undermined by the fact the middle classes have been whinging about a poor "underclass" since at least 1700. Go and look up "Gin Lane".

I've not really paid too much attention to this case. However I do feel that the social and economic conditions that plaque inner city council estates are a major contributing factor to things like this happening.

Now don't get me wrong, this is a hidious crime, especially the way they drugged the girl over a sustained period. The Guardian did a great peice on the council estate the forementioned plebs are from. There is a seemingly un stopable cycle of poor uneducated families breeding poor and uneducated children. If we tackle that, then we might have a chance of reducing idotic schemes like the one we're discussing.

tbfh 300 years of coherent social engineering (to use a term so bastardised as to destroy the original meaning) would be a spectacular achievement regardless of the power that did it.
 
I know some people, as do most people here I would think, that are not exactly gifted in the intelligence department but who would find kidnapping their own child to fund 50k worth of pizzas, Carling and Aldi blue pop quite repulsive.
 
Think they are both low in intelligence rather that outright evil. Like most of the people in council housing in West Yorkshire.

Orchestrating the kidnap of your own child is evil.

If successful, how much of the money gleaned would have been spent on the kids for their benefit ? Hardly a penny I will guess.

Would it have been put in trust or their future or would it have kept that repulsive woman in beer, tabs and pizzas for a few months until frittered away and another plan to fleece good people for money was thought off.

Evil, bone idle and a leech sums her up quite aptly.
