Hi there.

I am thinking of getting Karcher K3.99M for my car. Does anybody know how these connect to supply the water? Do you just connect it to the tap in the kitchen or the same place that the washing machine would connect?

Thanks

Michael

I'd imagine it's the same as most other jetwashes? You would use a garden hose with standard hoselock ends that just push on, but knowing Karcher it will be a different item that simply clips to the end of a garden hose. Karcher supply these with the unit.

You'll have a job connecting it straight to a kitchen tap, even if you can wedge it in the sink you won't be able to clean any cars unless it's outside the kitchen window ;)

Bog standard hoselock fits fine.

Mine connects to the tap outside, my hose has a thread on the connector that screws onto the tap, but i guess as long as you can connect the hose to a water supply it will work fine, nothing special needed m8

EDIT
yer just a standard hoselock connection to the washer that is also included with the washer

i got the 3.99M about 2 weeks ago because it was on offer, biggest waste of money ever.

what a total letdown, especially for 90 friggin quid

sure it pressures stuff off etc, but its not even that powerful, just the same as our cheapo one.

i did my car and found it had to be very very very near to the paint or it did nothing, even then my finger would get more off with a quick wipe.

i just dont get this pressure washer hype, to get anything off you either need to be very close or have a very powerful stream, then it gets to a point where it could damage the paint. meh, got a refund and kept to my simple hose washer thingy. :D

but yeah, it just connects to a standard hose thingy :p

Agreed, pressure washers are rubbish ime. I have a fairly cheap one which either doesn't do anything, or if you get it too close it blasted a section of paint off my old company car. I wouldn't take it near any cars i cared about.

Pressure washers are excellent

especially when combined with a foamgun like this:

A touchless wash is perfectly possible with these things. Foam the car up, leave the foam to dwell and run down the car, loosenning the dirt. Give it a blash with the pressure washer and you can take this much crap off the car :

Where would i purchase such a foam gun? That is obviously the key.

from what i can gather, they are all pretty much the same.

ive got a cleanyourcar one and its brilliant. Use Valet Pro PH Neutral Snowfoam myself and it comes higly recommended. Be wary of using at this time of year though (thats all brands of snow foam), seems to freeze at a much higher temp than water. ive had mine freeze when its been a good 2/3 degrees outside.

I'm impressed with that 'touchless' wash, looks ideal for a quick winter wash in the freezing cold weather. How much does it cost?

i got a £60 karcher Pressure Washer from argos. Its been great for cleaning the patio and other bits and pieces in the summer

Foam Lance is about £45 with snowfoam about £12 for 5 litres which will last you months. Ideal if you just want a quick blast of the car to keep the winter crap off it. No point properly washing your car in this weather, it looks just the same next day anyway.

I have a few Karcher powerwashers including a heavy duty hot karcher power wash. They do the same as the cheapo's except the cheapo's don't last long.

You don't have to connect the washer to a mains supply. If you prefer, you can use a tank filled with water, for instance I know a lot of folk collect rain water in a tank from the gutter and just set the supply hose into the tank and let the washer lift the water by itself.

I find it hard to beat giving your car a coat of TFR as the stuff is superb at removing dirt, grease and oil, then coat with wax/foam at the end.

Powerwashers are great but they are very sore on the painwork but to get around that I use TFR or you could use a hot wash at a warm level.

the Autosmart Durafoam ( in the pics above) is more of a TFR, and to be fair will strip wax

Valet Pro PH neutral stuff however, i get just as good results with, and is LSP safe.

Received my Valet Pro PH Neutral 5L today and foam lance, thanks i4detailing!

So how long does one leave the foam on the car for and is it a pressure rinse off or open hose?
