sounds dishonest.

yea it does how can some retail shops charge 90% more than pound shops do.

btw just spoke to the wife she said the newcastle woolworths is picked clean

im not even going to try. we went in the other day and could not move, so turned around and left again

I don't even know where one is in Manchester... but it'll be rammed full of people that are paying 50p less than internet prices... so what's the point?!

The unemployed will be storming the place today. Bet the shelves are no different from normal in that all the dvd's cd games will just be thrown on the shelves in no particular order with big stickers on them saying bargin.

I went in on Saturday and was trapped for about 20 minutes in an isle between two pushchair wheeling chav famailies, who were fighting over some tins of reduced quality street.............never again.

It wont be nothing like £10 off a £19.99 DVD, or even £20 off a £39.99 Xbox game. Thats just silly.

The bargains are like, 50p - £1 cheaper than the cheapest place on the internet thats all.

A bit off topic here, but to do with Woolies in Administration is it true that ** ***** & ****** (Sorry if this is breaking the rules about competitors) have recently gone into administration too? This is a rumour that has been going about recently.

I haven't been in there in about 8 or 9 years, and I do not intend to do so just because of a sale in which I would save about £3 in total.

No. They have seen a fall in the number of sales on white goods, that's about it.

I heard that too, but they have not gone into Administration, I believe their profits for this year where down by X amount of last years.

Don't think so, but there has been some speculation as their parent company made a £29.8M loss in the first half of their fiscal year. (Last year they made £52.4M profit so that's quite a drop).

I find it amusing that some sites/people think that because a shop must shift all their stock, they're going to waltz in and buy a PS3 for a pound.

They have to sell all of their stock to make some money back, not just to clear the shelf space! They only time you're going to get massive bargains is when the shelves are all but empty and they need to shift that last tea cosy.

Yeah the Profit losses are making sense of it all, but a friend i know who uses **** (which operates ** ***** and also ******) for his equipment at work has heard about the bosses of the ** ***** & ****** chain called in the Administrators. But apparently its not for finiancial reasons that it was stated.

Aparantly at least one store was selling sat-navs for £30, but the staff bought the lot before the shop opened - good on them I say :D
