Star Ocean
Kingdom Hearts (was really good fun if not 100% rpg)
PS1:
Grandia
Legend of Legaia (good fun if a bit westernised)
Breath of Fire 3
Alundra
Saga Frontier
Not played the grandias on the ps2 but the ps1 ones were great fun, also if you have the ability to play imports I would highly reccomend The Lunar series, amazing games, very good VA and V Nice cut scenes.
You may still find that some of the PS1 games are still quite pricey and commanding a premium if in good condition.

A massively overlooked PS1 JRPG is legend of dragoon, It's an absolute corker, and at the time, I put it in par with Final Fantasy 7
