So is it true OcUK has an uncanny love for watches?

...I sure hope so, as I could use some advice with some searching (for a watch, not the emotional kind).

Now basically, my budget is by no means large (very sorry everyone) - for a long time I could never see myself spending as huge amounts of money as some do on something that tells the time. However, while my views are largely unchanged, making do without one is becoming increasingly inconvenient (constantly checking phone), so felt it wouldn't hurt to spend a small amount getting one that not only told the time, but appealed visually too.

The main thing I'm after is something that's a bit interesting, maybe even having a unique feel. Perhaps a bit of colour? Maybe even some pattern/print? But still nothing ridiculously attention seeking, and still with a dash of class. I'd pretty much like to avoid anything that's overly cheesey or run-of-the-mill. Shoot me now, but I have no hang ups with replicas (I get the impression there is quite a legit market for these nowadays? Correct me if I'm wrong) providing they keep time razor sharp. Then again, these probably will be based on very stereotyped models.

Anyways, I'd be interested to know if anything sprung into anyone's head.

Any questions at all, please fire away! :D

Thanks for your time ocuk, :)
Peter

what is your budget in numbers?

And when you say "unique feel. Perhaps a bit of colour? Maybe even some pattern/print" any particular colour? Blue/lime green etc?

Also do you want all vibrant colours( gold etc) or a stark contrast maybe a bold colour on a black background/band etc?

You won't get many recommendations for anything with a dash of colour, let alone unique.

If it doesn't fit the boring but obviously expensive posh **** watch template they won't be interested

So rather than trying to be a **** looking down on people, why not offer your obviously so unique and down to earth touch?

I tend to buy Swatch watches, you can get something cool looking or pretty nice and the prices are reasonable and he quality is good IMO

I like this

Orange Monster? Solid movement, decent value (though depends on your budget), and definitely a bit of colour!

[EDIT: see you mentioned something about keeping razor-sharp time. In that case, avoid automatics and get yourself a quartz. Personally I prefer automatics/manual winds, and don't mind the (relatively immaterial) time inaccuracy, but it's not for everyone!]

Depends on your budget, I've never been into spending very much at all on a watch and until a few years ago they were all cheap digital jobs. Had a few mechanical ones recently spent £70 which is a record for me on a watch. It does everything I want and I think it looks quite nice, water resistant to 100m, chronograph & powered by light too :D

A) I'm not one of the ones swanning around in £4k's worth of watch when I live with my parents

I can almost smell the jealousy, it's hilarious.

I'm not jealous of bland watches that cost ludicrous amounts of money. There's a lot of hideously expensive watches I'd love to own, it's just that the majority of them, especially ones recommended on here, tend to be dull dull dull.

I'm also not jealous of Merkur Razors or £300 coffee machines.

I love the way you jump to conclusions.

I'm not jumping to any conclusions. There ARE a lot of people on here that have spent money they really, really don't have on dull watches.
