AMD Athlon X2 7750 BE

Thanks for posting the link.
Seems to be a very good budget processor, and if it can manage to keep its low price ($89) it will do very well for those looking an upgrade or building a gaming pc on a tight budget.

OT: One of the adverts was rather annoying as it advertised the Foxconn A79A-S motherboard for $99, compared to ~£200 here in the uk.

From most of the reviews floating around it seems to do fairly well. There was one review I noticed where it was compared to a QX9770. Dual core vs Quad core, and £70 odd compared to £600. I think it could very well be a stop gap for those wanting to go Phenom II but want to wait for the prices to fall.

All of the reviews show some overclocking. One says their version maxes out 3.1Ghz whilst another is 3.5Ghz. Seems like a lot of these people do not know how to overclock. Since it has an unlocked multi, they just went and ramped that up. My old 3700 went to 3.1Ghz on a 11x multi (280ish FSB) not a 15.5 (200fsb) that they used to record 3.1ghz. Surely they haven't their ability to ramp the FSB up?

If it hits Ocuk after Christmas then it may very well be on my list. I will let you all know how it does under water :P

Looks very good, beats the equivilent Intel in most benchmarks.

For £70 it could be a nice stop gap for someone like me, before moving over to Deneb.

To be fair if I could get the 7550 to 3.5GHz I'm not sure I'd even need a quad! :)

I notice how the none-intel sponcered hardware review sites give a very diffrent review to all the normal sites lol. Its quite apalling.

It'd be nice to get some release info from OcUK on the new AMD chips, or is it a case of NDA stops them doing so? :(

Seems odd that AMD won't even release, release date information?

Anyone know how this will perform against the amd athlon 6400+? the 6400+ has a locked multiplier and can reach around 3.6Ghz whereas this 7750 has an unlocked multiplier. would it be worth changing to the 7750?

Looks to be a good chip for little money, seems there will be some competition in the market place in CPU's as well as GPU's which can only ever be good. AMD seem to be on their way to recovery from a dismal year or 2 and if the price is right they should edge some of Intels market share in the low to mid end desktop realm resulting it more sales and faster computing for the masses.

I’m looking forward to see what prices these come in at as many of my customers are on x2 chips in am2+ motherboards, for next to no money this is a sensible and viable upgrade path for those of them that would like a little more but don’t need the extra horse power that the Phenom II will undoubtedly offer.
