What 1000w power supply would you guys recommend, gotta be energy efficient ?

i was going to get the OCZ elitextreme 1000w as it got good reviews and very energy efficient but on OCZ website in the small talk at the bottom it says it cant handle 2 overclocked GTX280's..... well i have a 8800GT as a PhysX aswell so id be pushing it.

I wouldn't touch OCZ.

Without knowing rest of the specs (and assuming common selection) 1kW PSU would be running at **** poor below 80% efficiency most of the the time PC is on!

I bet 500W is well enough, especially when you're talknig about 8800GT.

no i have a GTX280 now but will be getting another and using my 8800GT aswell as PhysX

i have a 600w OCZ stealthxtreme at the moment which works fine with one GTX280 and the 8800GT but i have not overclocked the CPU or GTX280 yet and am thinking it might struggle.

You'd be fine with this - absolute top quality too.

have you got any links to comparisons... i also want to future proof.

The Antec is better in terms of the actual quality of the unit and its performance.

The things the Corsair does better is offer six 8-pin pci-express connectors and 80A on the 12v rails. Compared to the Antec's two 8-pin, two 6-pin and 65A.

You won't be needing near that much power with just two gtx280s and an 8800gt so I guess the deciding factor for you would be do you want the 'hassle' of using a molex -> pci-express adapter to get power to your 8800gt.

*OCZ does not recommend the use of our OCZ1000EXS with 2 x Overclocked GTX280 graphics cards. The OCZ1000EXS power supply is certified by NVIDIA to power Two GeForce GTX280 GPUs but the significant dynamic loading of two overclocked GTX280s may cause operational issues and is not recommended.

NOTE: OCZ recommends a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) unit of at least 1500W for use with the EliteXStream series of PSUs.

I would like to get the OCZ EliteXtreme 1000w as it seems a very capable PSU and also has 80A on a single 12v rail but the quote above worrys me a little.
