Zalman ZM850-HP Heatpipe Cooled 850W Modular PSU probably best bang for buck - without quality restriction

What does that mean ?

Even tho it gets really good reviews and has been torture tested......
I wouldn't touch one with a bargepole.
It's an old expression, it means i would not buy a OCZ PSU under any circumstances!!!

From an Xbitlabs review of a factory overclocked gtx 280 (core 700, shader 1400, memory 2400) they measured it as drawing 193.1W at full load.
Compared to a stock gtx 280 (core 602, shader 1296, memory 2300) which measured 178W.
I'm not sure how their power use scales up as you overclock even further but I would be very surprised if a 1000w PSU couldn't cope with two of them. Perhaps that is OCZ acknowledging that they aren't sure how well their supply will cope in the longterm when running at high loads? They did cheap out a bit on its internal components after all.
if you look at the reviews and stuff the internals are of a high quality....thats why im confused.

It makes you wonder...
How mucu confidence do they have in their own power supplies?
I have never seen such a reccomendation for any other PSU brand.
PS - Keep this threads going lads i only need about 8 more posts for 250 and the MM!!!!

i have a OCZ now tho and it seems ok.
Something tells me you're going to buy the EliteXStream regardless, so go ahead! It's possibly the best model they've ever produced so it's not like it'll be a bad purchase.
Tbh i was going to wait for the Enermax Revolution but i dont know when it will be available, then i was considering the Corsair HX1000W and Thermaltake 1000W also.
So with options like Corsair, Thermaltake, Zalman and Antec available, why would you go for the OCZ?

im wondering how long this 600w will last me.

If you can find one, a PCP&C 1KW is THE best 1kw power supply there is. Or if you have the money and want to wait for them to come into stock, the PCP&P 1.2KW. Once you have one of these, you won't want another one for a very very long time.
