What will i need to do this?

at the moment i have a 19" Samsung non w/s monitor which uses vga

il be getting either end of month or start of jan an acer 24" G24 which has hdmi.

what cables do i need to get to use my 360 on either monitor?

Dont waste the £15 on a VGA lead if you already have the HDMI lead for your 360 as you can just use that on your new monitor when you get it.

dont have a hdmi lead nor vga.

basically when i get my new monitor but will run dual screens. when my pc isnt on or when im in for a serious gaming session will use the 24" acer with hdmi but when just playing 360 while waiting for a wow raid or whatever il use the 19" so need both lol

i did have a 24" crt tv, are they called that lol?

anyway thats out of my room now in favour for a bigger desk for a bigger monitor. in a few months time il get a big tv but for now il just make do with my 19" / 24"

I have been very pleased with my 20" WS monitor and VGA lead ever since the new xbox live update as it now supports my resolution and the picture looks very crisp!

Make sure you get the official VGA lead, as some third party ones are quite washed out.

Deffinately. Make sure you get the official one.

Tried my 22" Samsung with the VGA and very dissapointed, unplugged the lot and it went back to my 46" Sammy via HDMI :(

Funny that, I was very disapointed on my 24" Samsung on HDMI with the Xbox, went out and bought a VGA cable immediately and haven't looked back.

Personal preference maybe, but I prefer VGA over HDMI on both my TV and monitors.

What TV is this because if VGA is better than HDMI then its a very poor TV?

On the question above i asked, i now know that hdmi and vga adjust to the monitors or tv's capability, they can go higher resolution than any tele/monitor out atm

It's got nought to do with the TV imo. I've used my Xboxs on plenty of TVs with multiple connections.

I personally prefer the softer image VGA opposed to the sharper jaggy image that HDMI will give on any display, and I know a good many people that agree for the same reason.

When I say poor TV It could be you need to change the setting and tweak them for the HDMI input, say you mention it looks smoother using VGA do the above and lower the sharpness settings, what model is it? We may be able to find some settings for it, as HDMI should be far better than using VGA for the Xbox360 :)

I did try adjusting the smoothness, but it just looked naff compared to a VGA cable. I'd rather not play around with the settings when I'm extremely happy with what I have over VGA.

As I said, I'm not the only person to think this, The fact that you think HDMI should be far better is subjective to your tastes.

If the G24 is anything like the 24" acer i have then hdmi is a better picture than vga which i tried both on my monitor so i recommend hdmi and then just use the component cable for the sound .
