Hello,

My brother has asked for a bottle of Bourbon for xmas. The problem is i have no idea about Bourbon (I'm a rum drinker).

Can anyone suggest a decent Bourbon for £15-20 ?

The only Bourbon i know is Jack Daniels, any good?

Jim Beam black label for that sort of price or as above if you can find wild turkey its good stuff

Personally, I'd go for JD or Jim Beam. Both are lovely imo. Supermarkets sell a 750ml bottle for around 15-20 quid. There are a couple of other options but the only one i've tried is Bullet Bourbon (sp??) which is also nice but usually a bit more expensive.

edit - yea, Beam black label is cool.

Don't get him JD or Jim beam, they're common rubbish.

Get Woodford Reserve or Maker's Mark. Those are proper bourbons.

Bulleit Bourbon should be just about in the right price range and is fairly decent. Jim Beam Black Label isn't a bad choice, perhaps a little common though if you wanted to get something more special.

Knob Creek.

However tell your brother to drink proper Whiskey made in either Scotland, Ireland or Wales.

None of that American crap. :p :D

Usefull attitude

Anyways back on topic, does he drink it with coke? if so just get him a cheap bottle of JD as he won't notice the difference with anything more expensive. Most of my firends who ar bourbon drinkers are really just JD and coke drinkers and in the same way you wouldn't use a 10yr old dark run in a cocktail neither should you waste a quality bourbon in a glass of fizzy nastiness.
