Ahmadinejad to deliver channel 4's alternative christmas message

and there's me thinking all she did was wave a lot

MW

Nope that isnt all she does :D when you read up on Elizabeth II it is simply amazing, she is one powerful woman, just kind of give you the prospective the huge amount of power this small county had and respectively still has albeit not like it was when the empire was around.

Read up on her http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_II_of_the_United_Kingdom give you a idea of what she does.

english civil war (the most recent one :p)

the monarchy have had no 'real' power since then, parliament decide the laws, the queen signs them for legality, if she refused to sign one she would be out and thus lose her cushy lifestyle.

she is a figurehead and nothing more

Erm no you are wrong... :)

which isnt that bad considering she has bugger all power, would be better that way if he was the same, no?

The Iranian view of Britain is not as we expect. The prevailing view in Iran is the the US is Britain's lap dog and that we remain the most powerful and influential nation on earth. While it may seem daft to us, to his people in Iran being seen as equal to our Queen is a huge statement of respect.

There was an interesting arcticle about this that I read. The Iranian view amongst many people is that Britain secretly runs everything behind the scenes. Seems hilarious to us :p

There is probably some Iranian guy like Magick telling them that on all their web forums. ;)

I don't see the problem. As far as I can tell, he was saying fairly benign stuff. And even if he wasn't, you shouldn't deny someone a platform for their views just because you disagree with them.

As far as I can tell, the main objection is that the message comes from Mr. Armoured Dinner Jacket, who is apparently the world's bogeyman at the moment.

I've never thought the Q in this country had any real power. She had some real status and wealth - but not a lot that could be done with it.

In my opinion apart from their charity work, it's only really Charles (the fool) that does well in oil.

Well the laws are in place for her to be able to totally seize control of the army and disband the government. Although in practice this will never ever happen, so theres two points of view, that she is one of the most powerful people or doesn't have much power at all.

She does have to agree to laws that are made and meets the prime minister once a week though.

There's actually a few conspiracy theories claiming the US is a British Corporation, the jist of it was that we couldn't invade them militarily so instead let them think they'd won the War of Independence and then infiltrated government, setting up the private central banks, income tax etc.

It sounds pretty ridiculous at first thought but then it wasn't long ago our Empire spanned the entire globe, we gave it all up quite easily didn't we? or did we? ;)
