Do you have a Bible at home and What version is it?

I have a bible at home, not sure what version it is but I know it is filed under fiction with my other fairy tales.

One guy I spoke to knew virtualy the entire bible off by heart, I couldn't belive it.

I know several people same age as me who know the whole Quran off by heart, even though they don't understand a word of Arabic! Compared to me; I cant even read it from the book, lmao.

Oh, and, yes i have a Bible somewhere, cant remember what version it is.

Got 3 bibles, borrowed from school, but completely forgot to return. And now I can't, because the school has been knocked down. So technically I've stolen 3 bibles. Go me.

You've saved three bibles from being obliterated in a fireball of burning school!

You will be rewarded for your heroic act!

I have an old leatherbound Oxford wide margin KJV that my parents gave me when I was twelve years old.

I also have a leatherbound NET Bible.

:)

Okay yes take the mick out of the bible and yet nobody bats an eyelid, now take the mick out of the Muslim equivalent and the forums go up in up roar?

It's not about being scared it's a disgusting book in places that is far from suitable for children. If it was a fiction book that just came out it would have warning on it along these lines http://static.flickr.com/226/459228934_241a5755ba.jpg Who would give a book to children that has incest in and talks about killing lots of innocent children, mass murder and things just as bad?

Sounds no worse than the sort of stuff kids thrive on today. Look at the number of children who watch South Park. Swearing, sex, violence, depravity of all sorts, and they absolutely love it.

Funny how people are prepared to let their kids swallow all sorts of sick and twisted stuff, but get all squeamish about the Bible.

The biggest problem with the bible is how they add stories like Easter and Jesus rising back from the dead. That's not in the old bibles it's a relatively new addition.

LOL

"Easter" is a later Christian tradition borrowed from a pagan rituall. It was never "added" to any version of the Bible.

By contrast, the resurrection of Christ is a 1st Century story; it was not a later addition.

I also have a copy of the Qur'an at home. I leave it in the bog in case I run out of loo roll, it's very absorbent.

AJUK, equal opportunity offence since 2003™.

My suggestion would be to note when you're running out of loo roll and purchase some more, it should work out cheaper if you use a JIT method of stock control. ;)

I dont have one at the moment, I had one for school though but i dont know where that has got to now.

Ill be grabbing a NIV(New International Version) over the next week or so though.

Even if i dont read it(i rarely read any book at all) i just want one in the house:)

If you're not going to read it then why do you want one just for the sake of having one?

I used to have one when I was a born again christian, but I didn't bring it to Scotland with me. I think it was the NIV.
