Rock Band or Guitar Hero

My suggestion would be Guitar hero 3 + guitar for £35 on the high-street

and then buy rock band 1 for £25 online.

Rock band 2 isnt out in the UK for the PS3 yet iirc and you need copies from the same region to 'copy' over rock band 1 games to rock band 2 so it's easier to just wait for RB2 to come out here.
 
dont get too caught up about getting gh3 for the guitar, as it ultimately ends up in what you're used to. i started with the rb strat and cant stand the raised buttons/clicky strum bar on the les paul.

im not a fan of GHWT, the onscreen presentation is terrible, try and find the multiplier (both yours and the band's) on your first go, i challenge ya! the cluttered fretboards are pointlessly pointless. as is the whole thing shaking when you miss a note.

(some of) the songs are good, sweet home alabama is one, though i'm not sure about the chordfest ending but some are awful, go play on the road again, on expert drums and try not to fall asleep during the song
 
Try both, check compatibility of the instruments then buy the best instruments that work with both and both games :)

On the Wii it's a no brainer, as GHWT instruments work with RB2, but not the other way around, not sure if the same applies to the PS3

GH3 is pretty good in terms of gameplay, but for me the song choice in Rock band just blows it away. Nothing quite cooler than hammering away at Gimme Shelter in Hard (i'm new to these games).

There is absolutely sod all wrong with the upcoming RB2 drum kits. If you chose RB as the game of choice why the hell would you want a layout that is different to what your seeing on screen.

It would be a waste of money to invest in a drum kit for the opposing game if your game of choice was rock band.

I think I'll wait till Rock Band 2 comes out. Then I'll be able to rent Rock Band 1 and copy the tracks across.
 
Been planning on getting one of these for ages, too, saw GH3 yesterday as said above for £35, played it with the gf's brother last night and had to take him out to get it today :D PLanning on gettong RB1, Rb2, GHWT and GH2 and Aerosmith all downthe line, will there be any problems with the wireless Les Paul and RB 1 or 2?
 
In town today saw a load of people buying/bought GH3, never bought it myself or even played with the guitar only ever played it with a pad and that was the demo.
